Update on Sasha's Condition

So back in January I posted asking for help with getting my Siberian Husky, Sasha to eat. If you don't know, in the middle of January she was diagnosed with cancer, the vet believed the most likely to be bone cancer.

So lets start with the bad news and get it over with. She is either completely or mostly blind in her left eye. Her eye began to swell a few weeks ago and the vet put her on medication and eye drops. The swelling is gone. The blindness doesn't seem to bother her, she runs into things sometimes, but besides that she is just the same as before.

Now for the good news, while she was at the vet (beginning of April) he took an x-ray of her lungs and the cancer has not spread there at all. And she has gained two pounds (which is something to get excited about considering her condition).

Feeding wise, I give her two chicken breasts in the morning (eats it right up). And on average she eats 1/2 a can of wet dog food in the afternoon. And at night she eats 2-3 cups of puppy food. << No wonder she gained two pounds.

Behavior wise, she is still acting like herself but she does lay down more often than she used to.

Pain wise, sometimes she needs her pain meds and sometimes not. She isn't on any strong pain meds at the moment. Although I may pick up a stronger one next time she sees the vet (May 10th) just so I can have it on hand.

She is going to see the vet on May 10th so they can look into her eye and see what caused it to go blind and swell. They had to get the swelling down in order to look.

Given the circumstances, I think things are going pretty well.

Oh and here is the last picture I have of her. This was taken before her left eye went blind.

I wishing you the best aswell!
hope everything goes well for the two of you! <3

sending good thoughts and warm wishes your way!

Glad to hear she's eating and doing well all things considered. Please keep us posted! She is a pretty girl :)

Aww, that's great. I know there isn't much I can say, but I'm genuinely happy to hear of a dog who is loved and cared for, even when times get tough. Two weeks ago today I adopted stray dog Sadie... today on our walk we picked up another, a husky. I'm just glad to hear there are others who will stand by their pets. Best of luck to you and your pup.

So glad to hear she is putting on some weight!!!! I have a blind dog and she gets around just fine. She had glaucoma and lost one eye. She was taking eye drops for years before the other eye got bad enough that it had to go too. As long as the furniture does not move she does good.
