Oh, Craigslist...

Uhhhhhhggggrrrrhhhhh....

"Two young boas available for re-homing. Unsexed, $80 each or $120 for both. Other offers will be considered based on experience or situation. This species requires more humidity than most constrictors, but providing a humid-hide is the only special care they need. They stay smaller, females only reach about 6 feet and they are a very thin snake. Adults can be housed in a 30 inch aquarium (29 gal, or 20-long).

One is still a baby, about the size of your pinky-finger in girth. He's shy and has never struck, even when harassed. He has a scar on his head from getting stuck inside his hide. Just shed 3/20. Very mild-mannered snake, good for any experience level. Currently eats rat pinkies or fuzzies.

The other is a juvenile. His girth is about 1.5x my thumb's, or 2x if he's just eaten. He ate a rat pup and the little one's rat fuzzy 3/19 so he's pretty plump right now. Last shed was 3/16. Great eater, but also more defensive in general. This snake is better for an owner with some experience, someone who can read his body language and has a little more time to work with him. He's well behaved once removed from his enclosure, just defensive when disturbed.

Both snakes are fed in boxes outside their enclosure to minimize food aggression.

They were originally purchased with the intention of breeding upon maturation, four years down the road. My interest has waned significantly and I would like them to go to someone who will appreciate them. No supplies or enclosures included, just the snake(s).

Email if interested, along with why you want a boa. I will hear out every offer, so don't feel embarrassed if you think you're lacking in experience, just explain what you know.

[Pictures are of adults from Google image search. They are not of the snakes listed.]"

That anery is a ghost ;)
But indeed, very pretty. Too bad they're cohabited in a small tank.

Thanks for the clarification. :) It is labeled as such in the ad, but I wasn't sure since it's such a dark-colored example. Too used to ghosts being lighter colored...

And yes, very unfortunate that they're in that situation... If I were in the position to take in more corns, I'd be all too tempted. Partly because that Ghost is just stunning, partly because I hate to see them stuck in a tank together with strong odds that the next owner will leave them that way.

I totally get that. There are three corns on the local CL right now, all adults, all in a 20 gallon. It sucks. The person is asking $20 each and as much as I want to get them out of that situation, there is no way I can right now.

I've come to the conclusion that I need to own a 3 bedroom house someday. That way, I have space for both a personal reptile room and a quarantine/rescue room... :D Alas, I still live at home. Great for saving up money... Not so great to have to live under someone else's rules.

Cohabbing ads always make me absolutely gag. I just took in 3 geckos (my little secret--technically I'm not allowed to get anything new til my dad decides whether or not he's going to sell the house... So indefinitely!) who had been housed with a dozen other reptiles ranging from monitors to a snake. Actually, I may have posted that ad a month or two ago when it was up. (I had to re-rescue the 3 geckos from the gal that took the group in... She still has the rest of the group, and it kills me that I don't have space/permission to save a couple more from her!)

There's also ads like this... (Unfortunately, the ad that shows a straight-on view of the tank, complete with pine bedding and not a single hide to be seen, is missing...)

Here is the copy so if the listing gets deleted we can still see. I realized most CL postings we do are gone quickly so I say we copy the whole page listings and paste it.

Marbled salamander? Just a guess. I've found juveniles in the woods behind my house. That looks like an adult.

Yeah, there are wild salamanders around here, I'm sure they probably found it. But they also sell similar salamanders at the pet stores around here for about $19. Poor thing.
