2014 NRBE National Reptile Breeders Expo

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for an inventory.

LOL........I don't think breeders who produce 1000, 2000, and 3000+ animals would agree with you though ??? :shrugs:
Plus, it wasn't just and inventory. I had no problem providing that and did so when sending in for my liscence each year.

200 Cornsnakes
100 Kingsnakes
75 Milksnakes...............done

It was all the NEW paperwork on LINEAGE of all inventory that was rediculous.

I was personally told by the inspector at my table in 2010 that in 2011 they wanted paperwork of what the offspring were produced by. If the parents to those offspring were produced by myself or were they purchased. If they were purchased they wanted paperwork on who they were purchased from. If they were produced by myself, they wanted to know the background on their parents.......what does this accomplish ???

It appears that law enforcement has figured out that the easiest way to control and enforce laws on a segment of industry is to chase out most of the participants, thereby reducing the number of people they have to deal with. This appears to be an across the board policy in a LOT of segments of industry lately. And it appears to be broadening and getting worse every year. You wouldn't believe the crap that commercial fishermen have to go through in order to stay in business.

Of course, it should be pretty obvious now why Wayne Hill is probably ditching the show. I'm sure he's catching flak from all corners and is probably just as tired of it as everyone else is.

Congrats to FWCC for a job well done.....

Yeah, that's another reason I think Wayne should have moved the show a while back to a new state, not only because it was in Daytona waaaaay to long (my opinion) but also I'm sure he lost alot of vendors because of this paperwork crap.

Hell, just look at the vendor list, probably 85% of the vendors reside in Florida.

The FWCC sure kept me from spending my money in Florida.

Does FWCC verify (yet) that every buyer at such shows also has a permit?

If not, you just know that is coming..... And the attendant paperwork for each transaction.

I agree that NRBE has been at one location for to long. But as someone that is 45mins away from the ocean center I can't complain to much. I would hate not having this show. I have always wanted to be a vender at it and still have not done so.

I agree Walter what is the point for all the info and paperwork needed. It's a cb or cbb show. Most animals being sold anyone can clearly see that all the crazy morphs do not happen in nature. So what if the parents of your cbb babies are imported. The babies are cbb and that's all that matters too.

How ever this thread kinda got off topic lol. Still interested in who is going?

Kathy, I think you'll like the Hilton. You won't have to pay to park at the show. I like parking in the garage. Not the out in the sun lot.

I'm staying at Robbie's hotel, which is not on the beach. It's about five miles away. But we get a great rate and they allow dogs.

I wouldn't doubt it.

I believe that is in effect in Tenn. though, plus permits to vend/sell in Tenn. run $275. That's even before table costs.

Repticon just recently started a show in Chattanooga TN (which is only 40min. from the house) and they wanted to know if I wanted to vend the show.
I told them sure, I would love to vend the show, but I just can't justify the permit costs.

There are still states that don't even require permits or liscences to sell/buy (which I'm sure will change in time), but
those are the shows I attend now. Gotta keep costs down some way, especially with today's economy :awcrap:

There was a show a long time ago in Nashville that addressed this issue, I think, by the promoter buying the permit and treating all the vendors as his selling agents. The show only ran for a little while, so maybe that didn't fly very well. We did the show, and we did not have to buy any permits to do so. Of course, we really didn't make any money there, neither..... :bang:

Hey guys - haven't been around for a while. My collection is down to a minimum and haven't been attending any shows lately.
Daytona snuck up on me this year (I just got back from a vacation in Ireland so my focus had been on that for a while).
I am trying to figure out if I can make it or not (don't know if I can get the use of my vehicle that weekend or if I have the funds available).
Will check back and see what is going on and if I can make it.

I think my plans are starting to come together. Katie and I have tentatively reserved a room at La Quinta. It's worth double to me to be on the beach. We will walk to the show- speaking for myself, the exercise won't hurt me :)

I'd like to go to the Thai restaurant Saturday night, when hopefully Jarrett and Troy will be there. I think that's okay with Katie and Robbie and Corey. It was the best Thai food I have ever eaten.

I have never eaten Thai food. I'm not big on spicy lol. I am starting to get pretty excited. I had thought the show was the following weekend and made plans for a vaca with my family and my mom on the beach. I was pretty bummed will I realized it's the weekend before. Can't wait to see everyone again. Anyone shopping or just looking?

Thai doesn't have to be spicy at all. Katie had never eaten it, and we found something she liked.

Well- my plans just fell through because my dog sitter is out of town. Boarding my dogs would cost twice as much, and they don't even have time for bordatella vaccines to take effect.

Yeah, I don't do spicy food at all but Robbie told me this place was good at making custom dishes to suit your palate and they did a great job for me. I can't remember the type of noodles I had, but it had a very mild sauce and I had them add chicken and mushrooms for me. It was amazing! I am the pickiest eater ever and I can't wait to go back and eat there again.

I never have and don't plan to this year either. I would rather spend the time with friends I rarely, if ever, get to see anymore.
