Syn - a new ratty addition

This little girl was looking at me with cute little eyes.
Here in Belgium she's called a " Husky ".
I don't know if this is the same elsewhere.

Everybody, meet Syn.
Syn was a Norse goddess invoked by defendants on trial.
She was an attendant of Frigg and guarded the door of her palace.

Rats are about the best pet Ive owned so far. Damnably cold toes, though :D

Watch out for tumors, Ive had 3 go through surgery. 1 died in, 1 the tumors came back and she died ~ a year later, and 1 is doing well so far. It's a damn shame they don't have long lives to match the amount of personality they have :(

She is stunning! I would love a husky rat, but unfortunately they are hard to come by in the states. I have 8 rats!

Congrats on a gorgeous girl! I have never had a husky, she's just amazing! If you need help with intros, pm me. I'm no expert but I might be able to help. Females tend to intro easier than males anyway, especially when one is a baby.

I have males now, and prefer them because of the tumor issue. I had 2 females, Billiejo and Bobbiesue. Bobbiesue was adopted from a "Rodent Rescue" and was spayed when I got her. Billiejo was a python's refused dinner (I didn't know the python owner and am against live feeding. His friend knew I kept rats and brought her to me). She was unspayed. She had 2 surgerys for tumors and I had her spayed as well during the second surgery. She was then tumor free for 9 months. She was at least 30 months old when a tumor killed her. Bobbiesue never developed a single tumor. I believe spaying helps keep ratty girls tumor-free, and the younger the better as far as getting it done. Any female I get in the future will be spayed immediately.

Perhaps, I have had 6 rats. 4 of which were sisters. 2 had tumors, 2 didn't. Although one of the 2 that didn't died from unknown causes, she was fine one day dead the next. And the other has either lung or heats problems (again probably cancer) and won't keep weight on. We don't expect her to last through the fall. The other 2 of the 6 one died during tumor surgery, and the other died of "old age".

It's definately worth a try, though. It's hard to lose such active affectionate little critters.
