I wasn't sure where to put this so i guessed. If it's in the wrong place please feel free to move it. Below you will find the stats of my snake, just wanted some opinions if i need to change anything that i'm doing. I'm not trying to powerfeed even though some may call it that. Kathy Love's page says it's ok to feed every 3 days for babies. Just putting this out there first because i know how some people feel about powerfeeding. Thanks in advance.

That's a lot more extensive a record keeping than I do! Signs of activity and defecation lol... I only write those if its abnormal behavior or poop.
You are feeding every 4 days? I know that used to be the recommendation in the "Munson Plan" but if you take a look it has been revised to every 5 - 6 days.

yah i'm feeding every 4 days till i feel she looks healthy, the petco was not feeding her very well. they had her on crickets for months before i got her, so i'm thinking on staying on 4 days between feedings till she's about 15g

Same here man, omg i think all petcos do this underfeeding game to screw with the pet buyers. So you know exactly where i'm coming from? I too was going to wait till she's about 15g, but now i'm having second thoughts. What's your snakes weight? And are you feeding 2 pinks for still 1?

sorry i forgot to quote this to my original post so i confused the other members. Jimmy sorry if i'm outta line i don't mean to steal your thread i just have the same issue. My snake is the same weight as yours and i was following the munson plan, but today i just went for the gusto because i was talking to some other members who told me the munson plan was just a guide and each snake was different. So i fed my snake two 2g pinks the other day. She took them down with no problem and digested them fine. Very lazy for 2 days, but i won't feed her for another 6-7 days, I figure she may need some extra time to digest that extra pink.

So your split personalities are talking to each other now...why does "snakeseyes0822" only respond to your posts and in your favor? And is it just coincidence he joined the day after you did?

Double check your screen name next time bud...

Np dude, as long as you got the same problem you need the same help, so it's all good! Well i don't know if i'm comfortable with trying 2 pinks yet with a 10g snake. I understand what your saying about different snakes and stuff, but i'm scared about the regurge, what worked for your snake may not work for mine. Thanks for the advice and suggestions though.

It is just a guide, and every snake is different. But as a general rule..
I actually only feed once a week. I tried every five days and two things happened, I had babies start to look a bit too fat for my liking, and I was spending a lot more on feeders. Maybe if I had just one or two pet snakes and more time to handle them the extra exercise would make a difference.
Anyway, I just want to caution people about feeding too often. A snake that is in good condition will be shaped kind of like a loaf of bread, if it's any rounder than that it's a good idea to cut back on the food. If you feed too often your snake may end up getting the "hips" which are next to impossible to get rid of

Ahh ok, noted. I will make sure not to overfeed, but i'll look for that load of bread thing your talking about.

My babies get fed 1 item every 5 days until their up to fuzzies. Then they go to every 7 days. I don't do double pinks at all.

So did you feed 2 small pinkies or not? Let me know how that worked for you.

that was a typo that i didn't even catch till you pointed it out. I think i might do it in 7 days, i fed my corn 1 2g f/t so if i wait 7 days her stomach should be real empty and she should be real hungry. Then i might try it. I just don't wanna get in a habit of using my snake for experimental feeding, but i'm starting to think she can handle it.

Or else you have to buy another baby...

What a shame.

The other thing I have read about power feeding is that growing snakes too quickly can shorten their lifespans. I feed my guys slow and steady. They all look healthy getting 1 meal per week (usually late on the weekend for the snakes at home, and Monday or Tuesday for the ones at school) They're not growing as fast as some other folks' snakes who feed more and more frequently, but I'm content with their growth rate and hope that they live a good long time. I'm in no rush to breed.

Overfeeding is a bad thing in my book, and that can include "too often" and "too much quantity at a time." Sure, I want my babies to grow up - but I want to have them around and healthy for a long time. Snakes' metabolism allows for them to take advantage of extra food supplies when they're available, like an extra pinky. In nature (which they're designed for, of course) that's not a biweekly occurence. The fact that they CAN eat that much doesn't mean that they SHOULD. It's your snake of course, but IMHO you're causing potential problems for your snake.

I would like to come clean and say that it was not a typo. I did feed my snake two 2g pinkies f/t and she took them like a champ. She's currently still digesting, but she did fine with them. I didn't want to admit it because i thought i would get jumped on for going ahead of the munson feeding plan. I figure if i'm coming clean with everything else i might as well come clean about something this small as well.

Well thanks for that. I am glad she is doing okay. Not everyone uses the Munson plan exactly. A lot of people adjust it to what better fits their animals. I have been doing double pinks myself, mostly because the bump was gone within 24 hours.
