Rep Points

Well I haven't been able to rep anyone in 3 days now. It always says I must spread rep around, but I can't rep a soul. NO FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I believe this "you must spread some reputation" message is due to the fact you can't rep the same person repeatedly rather than the limit to the amount of reps you can give as a whole? I don't remember exactly how many people, I believe it's ten or something, different people you have to rep before you can come back around to rep the first one.

You need to rep more than just the same old people all the time. That message indicates you haven't repped enough different people. I believe the number is 20, but could be mistaken.

I mean no disrespect Rich... but I honestly dislike this set up. I for one have always given Rep in a mature manner for posts that deserve it. Now I can't do that. There's too many restrictions on it and I really think it kind of stinks!

There have been several people who have posted that I wanted to give Rep to because they EARNED it... now, unless I take my time and rep 50 zillon other people, then dig up the thread and finally rep them, I can't! There are more than a couple regular posters that I end up repping... Usually because they post more often than others...

Ugh, I just find this all very frustrating. I'd rather see Rep done away with then for it to be so restricted... To me Rep is pretty much pointless now!
 
I don't think the amount of people you have to rep before having the ability to re- rep someone again has changed, only the amount of rep you can give out in 24 hours.

Reputation

What is reputation?

Reputation is a way of rating users depending on the quality of their posts. If the administrators have enabled reputation, then the reputation icon will be visible in posts.

Reputation may be positive Positive Reputation Icon , negative Negative Reputation Icon or neutral Neutral Reputation Icon. Negative reputation may only be given if the administrator has enabled this. Neutral reputation is only given when the person giving reputation does not meet the criteria set by the administrator to affect someone else's reputation.

How do I give reputation?

To give reputation, click on the reputation icon in the relevant post. This will reveal a form to complete with the reputation type and the reason for giving the reputation. If negative reputation is disabled then it will not be displayed in this form. You may not give reputation for the same post twice.

How do I know what reputation I have received?

You can view the reputation that you have received in your User CP (User Control Panel) where it is displayed at the bottom of the User CP page. Here you will see the latest reputation that you have received and whether this is positive, negative or neutral. Your total reputation will be shown as series of reputation indicators in your posts and profile. The more positive your reputation, the more positive icons will be shown. The more negative your reputation the more negative icons will be shown.

How much reputation is given? What is reputation power?

If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied.

What if I don't want anyone to see my reputation?

You can disable the display of your reputation by going to your User CP and selecting Edit Options. On this page you will find a check box labelled 'Show Your Reputation Level'. Un-checking this box will remove the display of your reputation and replace it with the Reputation Disabled icon. You can still give and receive reputation while your reputation display is disabled.

Hey hey...I gave up my reps on things that I felt were important to ME. Be it a well turned coin of a phrase, a new husbandry trick, whatever....I do not willy nilly toss out points like candy to a baby. I resemble that remark, Lenny.

Seriously, his is the best advice. I am not sure why people keep beating this already bloody and certainly dead horse. No matter what you are reping for (humor, help...) you have to be sure it is worth YOUR rep points.

I could care less about rep points, heck I never even paid them attention until I received some. Not sure who said it earlier, but I do like the idea of having to give up points to rep others.

The most ridiculous part of this entire thread is that people EXPECT Rich to jump in and do something no matter what "side" it is for. Do you all realize he is working with over a thousand breeding snakes right now? This is my last post on this unless I feel I have to post again, lol, but this has become ridiculous and lame. No matter who gets the last word, let's just drop it PLEASE.

I wasn't looking for advice. I wasn't asking for any of Rich's time. My post was a serious inquiry directed at helpful members whom might know if the new rules are posted so I wouldn't have to address either the moderators or the site owner. If I wanted their time I would've PM'd them directly.
I find "The most ridiculous ( and hypocritical) part of this entire thread " is beating a dead horse while whining about others beating a dead horse.
My post was legitimate and I don't appreciate your snide attitude with regards to it, feel free to take your "last" post, your insults and your attitude elsewhere...
