Great looking ASF's... And you should find that they do not stink near as much as mice. Not to say they dont have a smell, just not as bad.

They ARE really cute!

But once you have them EVERYWHERE (they are prolific!), it doesn't seem so difficult to feed them off!

They don't seem to drink as much water, and don't urinate as much. So they are not as stinky. They also seem to use one or two corners as toilets. So you can clean those areas often, and let the full cage go for quite a while, depending on the size of the cage and number of ASFs.

I hate that they are illegal in California (with a law and a fine for everything you think we wouldn't be so far in debt). Can you keep them in Arizona? Anyone know?

They look like big mice not like rats at all! Are you gonna breed them up and feed them off?

Order Rodentia (rodents) All species, except
domesticated golden hamsters, also known as Syrian
hamster, Mesocricetus auratus; domesticated races
of rats or mice (white or albino; trained, dancing or
spinning, laboratory-reared); and domestic strains of
guinea pig (Cavia porcellus).

So if I train them to dance, I can keep them? :dancer:

Congrats on your new little evils. They seem cute and innocent enough until they have babies and turn into Satan. But they are great as far as having huge litters and stink way less than mice!

Thanks! According to Kathy, they're from her "Tame" line. LOL. So hopefully, they won't be too super evil!

Mine are pretty docile....but they like to sneak attack. They act all calm, you pick them up and set them in your palm and they suddenly take a chunk out. Little b*&#$rds!

Do these stink as much as mice?

I did a test to see how long they stay stink free. It took 6 weeks with them on Aspen, 4 weeks on shredded paper. By the way it was wierd. I went to bed smell free and woke up with nasty smelling cages! Bet I cleaned them out fast (lol!) and now clean up every 5 weeks with them on a blend of aspen and shredded paper.
