I know I may be leading myself into a trap but...

Ok, first off I would say she is stunning and I can easily see how it would be an impulse buy I would make. If you feel you can use her in the future and she fits what you want, pick her up. HOWEVER do know that growing a female boa from a hatchling to a breeder is going to take time, on the safe side 4-5 years. These are not corns that you have the potential to breed in 18 months(potential, not condoning it one way or another), these females need to be slow grown to produce nice clutches healthy. Also know the boa market is dare I say worthless right now, its hard to really give animals away. Is it going to bounce back? Ehhh hard to say, locality animals will hold their value, but morphs its a gamble. Boas ran their course 10 years ago, now it seems they are holding on by the skin of their teeth, the market is unbelievably saturated and I dont see that changing. Just some things to consider, but if you look at that picture and think "Man I just gotta have her", take some pictures when she is chillin at your house for all of us to enjoy.

Oh I am aware of the time it will take before she'll be mixed into the plans... don't worry. I have a currently "working pair" to keep me busy :)

Oren..... You already have a plan..... Babies are too long in the project.... Buy adults ready to go..... Did I sound like a guru then..... LOL
Oren..... Adults are the way forward in any breeding plan...
Babies to grow on is something a breeder does... ;)

Bringing in adults was never the plan mate.... an adult costs around... 4-5 times that, and aren't readily available. I also make a point of raising my own breeders- simply because I get to know their personality and build some sort of trust, or the equivalent of, for me to feel comfortable while working with them- these are -big- animals.

........... So... if you don't get her, I can expect the package as a belated birthday present when? She's absolutely beautiful! It would be very hard for me to pass up. BUT... you already have a very well established breeding group you're working with. I'd say save up and go for the retics.

Scavanger.... :p

Actually we'll see, I might end up getting her -and- the retics.

Wow, Oren... I don't know what to say at all, but you seem to have figured it out for yourself. As someone mentioned... "to the untrained eye" I find her quite beautiful! So if it were up to me... I'd grab her.

But what do I know????

Imagine a line of Vanishing Pattern Sunfires'. I won't say anymore.

Ciao

Exactly my "fear"...

we'll see... color wise she's far from being a Sunfire but... at this price, that's more than reasonable...

The going rate for Sunfires is roughly around 2.5-3.5K $...

What a project to work towards. Ok, it could take ten or fifteen years before you get the first VPS's, but by then, who knows, it may just be the right time for a new Boa Morph which can possibly exceed the 3,5k mark.

I know what I would do if I was in your shoes, I would claim her without hesitation.

Ciao

Not a plan yet, but it needs to be....
Waiting for things to grow on is ok if you think you have a dinker of some sorts.... But for breeding one needs adults..

True but you are projecting reality as you know it unto how things look over here... things are rather dismal.

You see, Alon is the only breeder (currently) who has spent so much money and hand selected the animals he got and imported them(in Israel that is). The other breeders simply try and snag whatever comes in mass-smuggles/mass imports in which usually not the best looking animals arrive... and some die/are sick to boot...
They cost around three/four times their initial price because of the shipping.

So... adults aren't an option... when these smuggles get here, they are all babies.
Every once in a huge while someone sells on a snake when they are one year old but... then you need to really ask yourself- why is he selling it? It's very rare, so why?

Lastly, and sadly, the field here is undeveloped and brimming with people who just want money- some won't hesitate to sell sick/dying/infertile snakes without saying so. Here the hobby is full of "the wrong kind" of keepers

So... Had I lived abroad and the prices were right- you're quite correct.
But that's not the case, adults will be sold at around 10 times the price I am paying now(and I really am not exaggerating)...

So, yeah, I hear ya, but I also have to say that things look different from way over here :)

I was thinking about what Roland had posted. You can maybe work her vanishing pattern into the Sunfires.. :) Go for it.. 200 isnt that much. Lol.

That's one of the directions I'm interested in, yes.
We will need to see how her offspring look though, breeding her to a Sunfire might lead to not too good looking results.

Lol.. Its all a guess.. :)

If you don't like the results of her being bred to a sunfire then you can always sell her for probably more than 200 since she will be full grown and breeding size.

Naw I can't see myself selling an adult female boa :)

We'll see, I made a deal with myself... if tomorrow the person who comes to choose a Boa will end up picking her up... I'll know it wasn't meant to be :)

Oren there is no such thing as if this person doesn't buy her I will keep her. She is alrady meant to be you want her- why give someone else the option. You may be heartbroken if this person walks away with her knowing you just let them.

Danielle I already have 3 other Salmons that by comparison outshine her greatly.
Yes I like her lots... but the person who is coming to pick her up is a kid, with his mom who is in a wheelchair and you know...? It will also warm my heart to see them getting her as their first snake... I mean, really.

I can't bring myself to keep her by knowing that Alon will make half the money on her if I buy her and not them. I will also feel like I am "cheating them out" because the sole purpose of her getting here was for them to pick their favorite....

I am going with my heart here, and my heart tells me that though I will be glad to just keep her, I will always feel slightly guilty for not allowing them the chance to get what may be the Boa they will like most.

I know it may seem kind of dumb but... it really warms my heart to see people happy with the snake they got- especially if I facilitated the situation.

The reason why I have the boas I do was because Alon took it upon himself to run the risk of losing some high quality animals(and I can tell you straight, he'd love to take back every single Salmon I have because they all turned out to be keeper-material, some of which surpassing the ones he held back).

Thanks to generosity and good will I got to where I am, I feel it's only fair I do the same unto others.

Makes sense?
