Snow hatchling!

The Ice Queen
There's a bit of a story that goes along with this little guy so I'll tell it before showing pictures. :p He was due to ship out on Monday, but the employees at the FedEx center missed him and he didn't get sent out. So I arrive in Jonesboro (two hour drive from my house) to pick him up and he's not there! I was spazzing when I get a call from the FedEx location in New Orleans telling me he was there and would ship out that evening. They were even nice enough to, as requested by the breeder, open the box and put in a fresh ice pack!

Which is funny since the lady at my FedEx location refused to even touch the box - She brought it out in one of those plastic mail bins and made me grab it out... :p

Anyway, after all that the little guy arrived safely at home with me! First thing I did was put him by his water dish and he happily drank! Now he's settling in, exploring everything (but staying close to his water dish lol).

So a big thank you to Dave Harms aka Wax32 for this little beauty! He's stunning, I couldn't be happier with him! This next week is going to be torture not being able to hold him! :(

Okay now on to pictures!

I know that's not a very good image, the lighting is kind of bad... So here's the one that Dave took of him.

Once he settles in I'll be taking lots more pictures! :D

Hey Em, glad he made it there OK. I've been using this shipping place for 3 years now and never had a problem.

The manager called me this after-noon wanting to make sure he made it to you alright. He told me he swapped the icepack Tuesday morning and then swapped it again when it shipped out Tuesday evening. He went the extra mile after his mistake.

When he mentioned that he could replace the ice-pack he asked, "He is inside something in the box right, like a bag or something?" Hehe. I told him not to worry, he was secure in a deli-cup.

When he first called my house Tuesday, my wife talked to him and he asked her if he should put the box in the fridge... my wife was like, "UH, NO!" :D

The little guy last ate on the 9th and he has obviously only had his just-out-the-egg shed so far. I am looking forward to seeing his progression, as no-one else that has bought a snow from me has done one (hint hint if any of you are reading this) I have no idea what they grow up to look like. Hopefully like Greta. :D

Yeah, I really appreciate the guy putting forth the effort to make it up to us. Great guy, in spite of his mistake! (Everyone flubs up every now and then!) Kudos to him for being such a great sport and handling it so well. :)

Don't worry, Dave. I'll be taking LOTS of pictures of this little beauty. Still struggling with a new, gonna give it a while, but I know I want to name him something that reflects his parents.

Marcia, thank you for the compliments!!

Aw, what a sweet little guy! I'm glad he made it safely to you, Em. (One of his sisters is coming to my house soon.) Good luck with the naming. That's one of the fun parts of getting a new snake-y. So is taking pictures. So is watching it move around. So is - ah heck, the whole business is fun!!

Thank you both.

Caryl, you're right about snakes being fun in every way. :D Waiting a week for this little guy to settle in is going to be torture. I want to hold him and photograph him SO bad!

Glad he is ok! When my plasma female from Brent was shipped out, she missed a plane connection and was left sitting there. I was freaking out! The FedEx people that I dealt with were not nearly as understanding and helpful :( Glad there was somewhere there who cared! He is very pretty.

Thanks Nicole. :D I was pretty stressed and afraid when I opened his box he was a goner. I'm glad your girl got to you safe and sound, too!

Thanks Eddie! :D I can't wait till he sheds a few more times and see how his color develops.

ceduke, I'm so glad he's here safe as well. Thank you! :)

Wow are you lucky they would open the box and give him a fresh cold pack! Where would they even get one?? Lucky little snake.

Hey everyone... this wasn't FedEx personnel... It was Jay, the manager (owner??) at my local shipping store type place. Xpress Ship or something, I should look them up and give them a real shout out... I ship there all the time so the guy knows I am shipping snakes. :D

FedEx comes at 6pm to pick up packages, mine hadn't got checked in (they had some kind of cut-finger emergency I was told) and so it got left.

When I dropped the box off it was 10 minutes till 6 and some idiot was trying to ship a transmission, Jay just motioned me to give him the box so I didn't have to wait.

Next time I WAIT and make sure they check it in! :flames::uhoh:

AT any rate, he and I talked and he said he would swap out the ice pack... (they ship fresh shrimp and what-not so they have plenty on hand)

He actually swapped it twice.. once when he figured out the package hadn't shipped and then again right before fedex picked it up. The guy is a great guy. :D

EM: did you feed him yet? :grin01:

Don't be SKEERED! Get back on that horse!

I'm feeding him tonight, Dave. Thawing the pinkie right now, gonna put it in water to warm up, take him out and hold him some, snap some pics, and the put the pinkie in another container with him and leave him be till he eats. :) Figure it's best to do things how he's used to.

I'm trying to get back on the horse... still kind of shaky, but determined... I think...

lol.

Pics of the set-up! Sure thing. :)
