It kind of bugs me because it was a "pet project", but unless I get some major growth spurts here I think I will be putting off my "hypo cinder" project for a year. I held back a bunch of 07 females to pair back to Zephyr but they are mostly in the 230 gram or so range, and I would rather grow them another year than try to be "one of the first" at something, so I can wait.
Instead, here are my current plans, to do the following 4 or 5 pairings. I think it will be enough for me this year.

Expected offspring in parentheses.

Apollo X Circe (Ghost stripes and ghost mots) clutch laid May 5
Prometheus X Hera (Ghost and anery stripes-cubes and mots) clutch laid April 29
Ares X Calypso (Hypos, ghosts, hypo stripes, ghost stripes mixing silver queen and stripe lines) clutch laid May 29
Apollo X Sunshine (multi-het stripes)
Prometheus X Circe *second clutch (ghost mots and ghost stripes)

Well, had my first hook up, but my camera croaked before I could get a decent picture. But Prometheus and Hera have hooked up!

Had one more Hera X Prometheus hookup on 3/11, and I am putting them together a third time today. None of my other girls are looking close to shedding yet, except for Medusa who is getting a year off this year so I haven't had any other successful pairings yet.. Where is all the early breeding luck everyone else has been having? :awcrap: LOL

Well I have had hookup number 2, Ares X Calypso. This is an F2 project with a brother and sister hypo pair, both het stripe and anery. Of course the only good picture I got was the corn porn :p

A repeat breeding of the same pair, here's a few better pics of the rest of them!

it's almost like they are married

For the fourth year in a row Apollo and Circe have hooked up. Neither seems to mind the monogamy! LOL actually they have both been bred to other snakes, but they just go together so well... so what the heck I repeated the pairing again this year. I get nice ghost stripes and motley stripes from them.
Circe never did have a post brumation shed yet, but she had this look like she was ovulating so I thought I would just try and see what happened... it worked!

I found some blood in the tub after this last hookup, but it was hard to tell which snake it came from. It was not a huge amount, but I am still hesitant to repeat the pairing too soon because both Apollo and Circe are very dear to me. I wonder if one hookup would be enough to "take" . Poor things, it must have gotten rough

Jen the blood isn't any thing to be concerned with if it's just small amounts. I have several females that bleed slightly when breeding. It always look like it's more than it is though and freaked me out the first time.

It was more than just a drop or two this time though. The "evidence" looked like a big gross blood clot, and they had crawled around and smeared it all over the tub. I was looking for a picture Rich once posted of a female that bled to death after breeding her but I can't seem to find it.
I have had a small drop or two of blood before also but never this much.

This might be it for me this year. I have tried to get my other two hookups to happen and the amel stripe and caramel stripe ignored each other, as for the miamis the male was trying so hard but the female was having none of it!
After talking to some people in chat I have decided also not to repeat the Apollo x Circe pairing, I just don't want to risk it.
I may have better luck later, but if I only have the three clutches that's OK too. My plan was to produce fewer corns this year anyway.. Might try the Hondos if they ever shed!

One more!

...Or not....

This pairing was my backup plan, as this female caramel motley had a growth spurt in the past couple of months, you may remember Bertha the escapee who was found by my cat!
I wanted to put her with my caramel stripe. But he was clueless with her and my amel stripe. I had given up. Then I decided to give MIdas male butter mot a go at her. Little guy got the job done! I am curious to see if I get little butter mots or not! Female has unknown hets...

Pairing # 5 woot!

Sunshine, female amel stripe het caramel just shed. I had already tried several times to put her with my caramel stripe male and with my butter motley male, and had no luck. So I decided that I would give ghost stripe Apollo a chance before giving up on her! The results should be, multi-het stripes. They will be at least het hypo, anery, and amel with 50% poss caramel hopefully see some other stuff than normal stripes in the clutch - I figure this is a good pairing to test this female for hypo and anery and the male for amel and caramel!
