Alcyon - Caramel Pewter (Bronze?) - Progression Thread

This is my new caramel pewter from Matt at Blue Apple Herps right after his third shed. As far as we know he and his sister are the only caramel pewters that have been produced so far. He definitely has a bit of a rosy undertone throughout and I can't wait to see what he looks like as he ages. Thinking of calling this morph Bronze depending on how his colouration develops.

Ooh I am intrigued! Pretty little one you have there, I can't wait to see what he looks like when he's older!

So you are the one who snagged him, congrats. I would have got him but didn't have the money at the time. Make sure and keep plenty of pics coming.
John

I wasn't planning on getting him and then my best friend (FoolishTook) fell in love with the female amber het blood, stripe that I'd bought to breed with the lavender male I got from you. This little guy was only a bit more than she was and I decided that he was worth it so we traded. I'm so glad I'm going to get to watch him grow up. I'll post pics after each shed.

Fantastic! Congrats man. Pewter + anything is an awesome combo in my opinion. Though I don't normally care much for caramel combos, this awesome little critter might just have changed my mind. Updates in a few months please!

It is just amazing how the charcoal masks the caramel, I have always thought of caramel as being such a strong gene. You see corns het caramel that show the tags of caramel but in this case the pewter is all you see, I wonder if it might show up a little as he grows older.

sweet genesus !! super nice.
im hopeing to hatch out some amber pewters in the next couple of years. its nice to see whats gonna possibly hatch out a head of time...lol i really thought that the caramel gene would have "popped" out a little more, but theres still time to grow!!

awesome pick up!!

"bronze" no offense just imo... but dont think its gonna fit...just yet, just too dark for bronze, but i really like the name!! & who know's maybe it'll get bronze "er" in the next few sheds?

Neat addition. I would feel more comfortable if you left trade naming up to the breeders though.

Didn't see this thread earlier, looks like he's settling in nicely. I hope you do keep posting pics, I'd like to follow how he progresses vs. his sister that I have.

John, these definitely have a "look" to them that is different from other pewters I've seen. They almost have a reddish/brown hue to them. Doesn't really show up in pictures, but is there in person. I, too am curious how they'll age. I wish I had a regular hatchling pewter to compare side by side as they grow.

Anery A masks caramel pretty strongly, thought caramel snows do seem to have more yellow. So maybe that will be the case with Anery B. I've decided to hold back the female caramel whiteout to see how she progresses and see if its anything like caramel snows. So far she is a little more yellow, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I floated "caramewter", but that seem to didn't get such rave reviews! Maybe "bronze" will be better, but regardless, I think its best to wait until they're adults to see their mature colors.

We all know how the "mocha" and "lavender" worked out.

Its true, the pictures really don't do them justice. Hopefully the red will become more pronounced as they age. I'll definitely keep posting pictures after each shed.

Matt - Glad you like 'bronze' but yes, we'll definitely need to wait until they're older to tell. Would you post a picture of his sister? It would be interesting to see the difference between them.

lol! Well I have no problem with you coming up with a trade name, because you did all of the work! hehe, "Caramewter" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

If you came up with Bronze I can accept that. ;)
It's a much more catchy trade name, I just didn't like the idea of someone buying a high end morph and then deciding they would be the one to trade name the morph.. :sidestep:

No offence to the OP or anything, just a pet peeve I guess.

Well really, its what the community decides to call it. I can call it whatever I want, or Ben can call it whatever he wants, but its whatever sticks.

For now though, I'm perfectly fine with caramel pewter! Describes it perfectly!

2nd shed

Alcyon didn't want to stay still tonight for a photo shoot so here is the only decent picture I could get of him. I'll try again tomorrow. Again the pictures really didn't capture how he's slightly reddish. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

shed pics 2.2

I let Alcyon finish digesting before another photoshoot and here they are. In the first pic you can actually see a bit of his reddish tone that the flash didn't wash out.
