Am i to young to get a pistol?

i liked the joke
if u only truly wanted to look like the smiley, then you would have gotten two cap fun pistols-no?

yay someone liked the joke. i want a real gun that can kill stuff. i hate haveing to run bears down and slit there throat i want to kill them from far away

My suggestion would be to work with an adult pistol shooter in your family. Take classes, go to the range with that adult & work on your pistol shooting. If you do that diligently, I bet an adult shooter in the family would purchase the gun for you and hold it in their gun safe until you are legally allowed to take possession, then you could use it on family shooting outings with that adult, and then get the paperwork transferred when you reach whatever age the law requires where you are.

Taking classes is a good way to demonstrate responsibility with firearms, and each instructor teaches things a little differently so almost everyone, including people with years of shooting experience can learn something from taking a class. There are lots of little subtleties, and just because instructor #1 didn't mention it or didn't explain it well doesn't mean #2 won't be better, so it's always worth another trip to classes when it comes to firearms. Even the best Special Forces guys work with instructors regularly to keep their skills up, and if they do it when they are some of the best shots in the world, anybody who has any ambition to be good with a firearm should take classes too.

Soo... you have 3 rifles, and you say you want to be able to 'kill things from far away' well i'm no gun expert, but would a rifle not do a better job at long range than a pistol?? I'm going to go ahead and say since you are under the legal age to purchase a pistol, yes you are too young to get one. Your time will come soon enough.

Im barely 21 and have owned guns all my life and been around them
One if you have to stop and ask your self if your old enough to get a pistol your NOT old enough

Two what is the gun law in your state for pistols in california handguns are 21 so if your to young by,law then why break it there are laws for reasons

Three if your parents say no and your only 16 then what they say goes till you move out or turn 18

Four wait til your legal,to buy it its more meaningful that way I went out the day I,turned 21 and bought a handgun it a right of passage just wait your 16 you already got rifles and shotguns have fun w those

Not trying to be mean but I just went through the whole gun thing w my parents not too long, ago if you whine and complian makes you look less mature and confirms to them your not ready yet wait till you bday to even think of asking again but dont pester them

I should add you're not too young to LEARN to shoot pistol. It's lots of fun, even at an indoor range, and if you go with an adult from your family you can rent different handguns and get the feel of them so you know what you want when you are old enough to buy one. Take some pistol shooting classes so you learn a good stance & a good grip and how to use the sights, which are very different from rifle. Anybody who wants to buy a handgun should try a bunch out under safe supervision so they can tell what suits their hand & their shooting style. And if you go with someone who can sign the papers, you can do that and have a blast doing it. Just remember, ammo for anything except a 22 costs $$.

Lets see. I got my first gun from my father when I turned 10, It was the same shotgun he got when he turned 9. I got my second gun from my uncle when I turned twelve. I did not receive another gun until I was 22 when I bought a black powder rifle kit and have yet to put it together and take it out shooting. I had just got back from my first deployment to Afghanistan. During my second deployment to Afghanistan (age 23) I got in touch with a buddy who works at a gun store and told him what I was looking for, he put two very nice pistols in the safe for me and I picked them up two weeks after I returned from my deployment. I have been around and have shot all types of weapons from .22 to .50 cal sniper rifles, to grenade launchers and fully auto weapons, I have a 9mm pistol, and a .45/410 Taurus Judge, that I love to shoot. Honestly, in my opinion you should wait until you are old enough to buy it yourself, legally. It will mean more than someone just giving it to you.
My 17 year old brother-in-law had that same conversation with his mother and father and they told him no, so he thought he could try to talk me into buying him a pistol to go shooting with. In the state of New Mexico, if I were to buy him that pistol, I would be sent to prison. Only because he is too young to buy it himself. In my opinion, when you are old enough to get one legally, go for it. They are real fun to shoot and can be real handy when defending ones self. Until then, just read up on them and take classes like others have said. Classes are actually pretty fun, believe me, I had to take a lot when I was still in the military.

sooooooooyou have shotguns and rifles but your asking about pistols in my opinion your to young for anything but a really nice airsoft or a pretty good bb gun(and you can have wars with airsoft:nyah::madeuce::crying:

To be honest, I just skimmed this thread, basically because the if the OP isn't mature enough to use capital letters, punctuation and spell check, he/she is most definitely not mature enough to own a firearm.

I agree but it seems he already has 5. Apparently his mom is under the impression that he can't shoot himself with a rifle or shotgun???
