Are all people the same?

Or are snake people better?

I kind of think that most of us have the same wants and needs and hopes and dreams and desires; but then, sometimes I think that because snake keeping is sometimes regarded as a little strange by some, that snake folks are a little different and maybe better.

Is there a difference between someone with 20 cornsnakes and someone with a miniscule yappy poodle?

I don't know. What do you think?

Not only are snake people superior...but their pets don't yap all night and keep people awake....

Perhaps we're more inclined to look past superficial stereotypes, but not always, and it certainly doesn't make us "better". I know great people, who don't own a single snake, yet appreciate my interest in them, and also share in my excitement. I don't mind if people have snakes or not, or even if they have an interest. If they can share in my happiness, and respect me for having that interest, then that is all I ask.

There may be some differences (only because of the animal involved) but I wouldn't say better nor much different (aside from the animal involved) from any other person who has a passion/interest for any certain animal.

Bottom line is that we are all people.

No matter which animal one chooses to own/breed/show/etc.,... there are, always, similar aspects ... be it "politics", be it something that another would find strange, be it passion for that particular animal/breed/species, be it breeding for the best &/or newest, be it debates on forums, be it money vs. love, etc., etc., etc.

Is there a difference between someone with 20 cornsnakes and someone with a miniscule yappy poodle?

This is not a fair example ... there are differences even between a pet snake owner vs. snake breeder.

Nanci's "vastly superior" sums it up quite well.

Of course, it is not in my nature to verbosely orate or elucidate,.....so I will stand behind what Nanci said.

For now.

I have a hard time trusting non-"animal" people in general, not people that own any...people that just don't have any appreciation for snakes or dogs or cats or any animals for that matter, I really have a hard time understanding that and find it kinda idiopathic, if that makes any sense. IMO

***Don't get me started on people that call any animal "dumb" either...

I own a miniscule, yappy chihuahua. And I still own a few snakes. That's apples and oranges to me. That stupid little dog is a pal to me, and even when I had 100+ snskes, I knew the difference. Snakes tolerate us. Dogs love us. Compare snake owners to orchid owners, or something like that. The snake-dog comparison seems nearly as remote.

I agree with Kyle very much. Among several multi-layered reasons, for the fact (loose use of the term 'fact') that a person can see beyond their own thoughts, needs, and desires....and maybe ponder a pet. Not that all "pet owners" empathize to a great degree with their pet, but at least having a pet is a good beginning for them and a good sign for me.

But Dean, maybe that is what makes snake people "better"....it is easy to love an animal that is a pal, and it is easy to love an animal that is cute and cuddley...hell they aren't animals, they are family!
But it takes a special kind of person to appreciate an animal that is really nobody's pal, but that most people are afraid of! To see the beauty where others see horror....

Dean often makes me smile deep inside. I think many of us tend to anthropomorphize our little passive snakey friends. I know I do. But then, I've had a significant other or two, that were pretty much a blank slate, if you know what I'm sayin', that I was passively unaware, at the time, that I was projecting many noble and exquisite personality traits onto their blissfully empty and barren canvass. Alas, all in vain.

Sigh..............

You are so modest, lol.

Not to change the subject, but it takes a lot more work to live with a masterpiece than it does a blank canvas, it's all in what you look for, I guess.

Dogs and cats are a PITA. I got home today, and Bella had pooped in her crate for no reason. I thought my precious Zora had regurged!!! My _snakes_ are my pals. They don't do anything aggravating. They aren't all _needy_. I wonder if snake people are less needy. Less clingy.

Good point. I have dogs and I also have a yappy chi; perhaps it would have been better to compare pet owners and non pet owners, but then we could not speak of the cachet of snake owners....

Lucillle, are you saying that we stink,....or that we just smell special...?

I'll put it this way; anyone who has any love for anything is better for it, so if you can find love for something others despise than it is a positive. As for dogs vs. snakes, I'm with Dean (though my little dog is far from yappy). Dogs are companions to a degree higher than people are, IMO, and they totally erase peoples excuses for loneliness; same with cats. I'm still not convinced that if my JCP was 25 feet long that she wouldn't kill me and eat me...In fact, she's barely 4 feet and I'm still not convinced she won't try and eat me. I'll give this award to the dogs!.

We are SO much better. Who else could get bit by snakes, laugh, and post pictures of it for the inclusion in an exclusive club? :D
Johnny Knoxville?...

So maybe it takes the most special person in the world to raise and love malarial mosquitoes! I'm not that special, LOL. ;)

I must be weird. I was driving today, and I saw a little jumping spider outside, on my windshield. I put my finger up and waggled it at her and said "Hi baby!" I'm sick, aren't I...

Snakes are so _clean_. So _quiet_. These things I treasure. Snakes don't come sneeze on you when you are sitting on the toilet. Snakes respect your privacy!

LOL Now, saying that we are a "unique" group, I can agree with.
We really do find humor in what could/would be considered, by others, as something bizarre to have a sense of humor about.:D
