Are you a musician?

While scrolling through the 'Pictures of you and your snakes' thread, I seen the picture of Rich333 with his bass guitar. It got me wondering how many of the members on this site are also musicians?
So, tell us what instrument(s) you play (brand and model too!), if you are in a band or orchestra, and what type of music you like to jam to.

I am also a bass player. I used to tinker around with electric guitars a little bit but now I just find them too small and crowded for these bass-playin fingers. My main axe is a B.C. Rich N.J. series Virgin (a nice one, before they began making them in Korea), and I also have a Peavey Millenium (el cheapo). I bought a very nice Digitech pedal about 6 months ago and since I got it I've been playing almost daily .
I mostly play metal but I love hearing a great bassline regardless of the genre. I am currently paying a LOT of Rage Against the Machine, as the bass sounds amazing and is not too difficult to learn. Looking forward to seeing your posts. Mitch

I have 2 bass guitars and an electric... I was learning how to play the bass before deploying to Afghanistan, but never really picked it back up... I have owned a bass guitar since 2003...LOL... just never learned how to play it...

I used to play the alto Saxaphone while in highschool. And, I want to learn how to play the violin/fiddle.

I play drums, I have a 2006 pearl exr kit limited edition. Since I've been at uni I have found it much harder to find a place to play, neighbours don't seem to appreciate it as much as I do :argue:

I'm not really a musician by ANY stretch of the imagination, but I like to poke around on my Kurzweil PC3 synth keyboard every now and again. Used to play keyboards in several top 40 bands in my younger days.

Got my eye on maybe getting a Korg PA3X arranger keyboard one of these days before I get too old and my hands to achy and fumbling to enjoy it.

Wish I had kept up with it so I could REALLY play now.

Geodude, I live in an apartment so I feel your pain. It really sucks not being able to let her crank! Luckily I can just turn the amp down whereas it would be pretty tough to play drums quietly. By the way, I have tremendous respect for drummers. It's hard enough playing with two hands, let alone trying to keep a beat on those bass drum pedals. I could never play the drums!

Mitch

I really have been debating about pulling my guitar out and just making noise when my neighbors are having their summer parties...LOL... They really annoy me...LOL

I'm (Donna) a musician and music professor-I play saxophone and clarinet, plus about a dozen or so other instruments to some degree, and I teach music education and music theory-or did until I quit to homeschool. Allidraggy plays piano. Wadjet seems to enjoy snaking around the piano and my keyboard ;)

I'm not. I never got a good understanding of reading, understanding & writing music, though I was very adept at playing the piano by ear. And the more they tried to make me learn that part of it, the more it turned me off. When you're a kid, there's only so much "boring" theory you can digest. My older brother on the other hand stuck to it & he's an amazing pianist. But... like me with my other talents, keeps it to himself & a select few.

My husband is a piper. He has played all over Eastern Ontario with the pipe band he was in. They played at the NAC & in front of some dignitaries. He stopped when we were in college but picked it up again after we were married & rejoined a band until it tapered off as our family & business grew. He was invited, a few years ago, to join a competitive group locally who are top notch but he hasn't had the time. He's only been playing at a few funerals (his grandparents & father, my father recently). His brother is also a piper.

I just find he (my OH!) looks mighty fine in his kilt! Rawr! ;)

I sang in the church choir for my entire childhood. I took piano lessons starting in 4th grade and continued till I graduated high school. The first stringed instrument I learned was the cello, which I played for one year, but then switched to string bass, which I played for two years.

The only instrument I kept up with was piano, and I had a beautiful Chickering parlor grand built in 1912. I had to sell it when I moved to Florida in 1998, and haven't played since. :-(

I'm one of the few, the proud, the ever-whittling at our reeds, hugging our instruments to keep them warm in freezing cold concert halls, forever fiddling to keep in tune, oboists. I have a Loree oboe that's a year older than I am which I consider my baby.

I've fallen out of practice lately, mostly because the dogs will come running to "sing" along with the instrument and you cannot play any instrument, much less a double reed, while laughing.

Okay, I put the Mad Rabbit videos on the cornsnakes.com youtube channel

I was just thinking today I should put Kathy's sexing videos in there, too.

So it's this YouTube page for making a shared playlist. Feel free to add songs to it!!

Whew. Look at you tearing it up on stage! Got the ladies in the audience shrieking ........what more can ya ask? I'm gonna have to learn that Judas Priest song. My brother (guitar player) always seems to be playing that song when I stop by. What bass are you using nowadays?

Lol!!!

I'm not? Last time I touched her in public... Was in 1990!
We have a lot of memories together... And even more secrets that will never be shared.
She is still strung (loosely) with the set of strings I used at our last show. So many memories...... (Sigh)

Peavey foundation.... Left-handed. ( same as bob segers bass player). For the amp... 400 watt peavey head. 2 cabinets... Each had 2 18's and a 10 inch speakers.

The BIG cabinets that you see there... The singer was climbing on? Were once used by Ted nugent for practice purposes.... They were then sold to the pat travers group... Then we bought them. Lots of history there.

More videos to follow...... Sorry! Lol

gee nancy.... dont let life stop you from enjoying it.. think.. keyboard? i play guitar... mostly into scales not chassing other peoples songs... i found such a freedom in scales.. cant make a wrong sound lol.. and blues.. slow.. but still classy...
