Average time of egg production?

Naagas

Deserae :)
I have a gravid female. I thought she would lay last week, but she never did.
Hopefully this week?

How do you all time females laying their eggs? From the first copulation? From coming out of brumation?

How long does it take for your females?

Also, how long was your wait for pipping after egg-laying? I'm planning on incubating at 80F... so how long should I be expecting to wait?

I have the books, I'm just looking for individual experiences.

Tor went exactly 2 months between first copulation and laying of eggs last year... almost twice as long as is normal. From what I've been told in the past, 21 to 40 days is typical.

They generally shed their skin about 10 days before laying eggs.

Thanks for the replies!

I bought this female gravid, the past owner said that she should lay in about a week. It has been 2 and a half weeks now. I don't see any signs of a pre-lay shed. I don't know what he was judging when she should lay by. I guess I should call him and ask.

Two months?! I hope I don't have to wait that long.

Thanks for the baby pic! I am too excited for babies. Waiting through incubation is going to be torture.

All 5 of my females that have laid so far laid 9-10 days after their pre-lay (post ovulation) shed. This was also about 35-45 days after their first matings. Good luck!

Only on my second clutch ever. So, my answers are from last year only.

My female took roughly 2 months breeding to prelay shed. Then 5 days to lay. Incubated at flucuating temps 76-86 for 70 days at which time I was advised to slit the eggs. Next day, eggs had many slits and snakes began coming out.

I do not recommend slitting. I do not know if it played a part in it or not, but only 2 of 9 ate properly. I had one so thin it easily escaped what the others could not, traded 4 and do not know if they ever ate. Sold one that ate and kept one that ate, 2 died having never ate.

I will take your advice and not slit.

I am still waiting for eggs. This is kinda torturous.

My first female to lay this year laid 14 days exactly after her pre-lay shed 38 days after the first successful breeding.

The second to lay was 15 days after her pre-lay shed and 54 days after the first successful breeding.

Every girl is different, you'll know when your girl is getting ready, it's intuition.

I feel your pain on this one...i have 2 girls that started breeding very beginning of March, shed 7-10 days ago, and still no eggs! one of them is at least interested in her lay box, the other would rather just lay on top of it. so frustrating! once i get one clutch, waiting for the others won't be as bad!

Usually 5-6 weeks for me from first lock up to eggs. However, I have one female who consistently waits closer to 8 weeks after hooking up. First year I didn't think she was going to go, but she did. Every year has been the same.

I just had a snake lay eggs. First copulation was March 13, pre lay shed was April 3, laid on April 16.

Lucky! My first started breeding March 5 and still no eggs! she's not even checking out the lay box, but is getting really big and i can feel the eggs.

I have noticed that if copulation has been early, females might wait a little longer to lay, like they await the warmer weather perhaps?
