Not the best introduction, as the big girl is starting a shed cycle.
Wanted to post a few pics anyway. Sorry I couldn't weigh her, my scale only goes to 500 grams.

Blue, schmue....I still look good :grin01:

This gal is really "hip"

She's a BIG girl, Mike. She looks well-proportioned; she must have put on those hips earlier in her life. I've been keeping an eye on my girls to make sure they don't develop them. I've also been growing up my '06s a little more slowly as a preventive measure.

She's beautiful. Can't wait to see some freshly shed shots.

I am confused, this isn't a king.. or is she part king?? :sidestep:

LOL She is a big pretty girl.. And I bet those are Child bearing hips she has there.

mddorfer, the third pic, is kind of interesting, it looks like she has hips... If i were you I would cut down on the food intake for her until that clears up. I'm not sure if it can hurt her. I would think that its like a human being overweight.
(That can hurt you in the long run)

ps. you could also take her out of her cage and hold her more often, so she has more activity, but if you already do that then cut down on the size of the mouse a little. (How often do you feed her and what is the size??)

hope that help a little, Butters

Thanks, but I've only had her a week :grin01:
She does indeed have "hips" and no they won't go away.

I agree. I had a "hippy" ghost (not my doing; bought her that way) that laid a big clutch of slugs last year, which left her practically emaciated-- but the hips were still there. She recovered nicely, but when I brumated her, she seemed to be losing too much weight so I pulled her out. This had no effect on the hips.

Since she doesn't look fat at all, I wouldn't recommend a diet, since it'll have no effect on the hips anyway (but you already knew that ;) ). People should be careful about giving advice in areas where they have zero experience.

You have to be kidding me

Mike, shes a lovely big girl. I had a big sunglow motley girl with hips too, shes been bred 3 times and double clutched twice (not in my care). But I sold her as I find hips unsightly LOL

"D'ems child-bearin' hips!" Or at least that is what my long-dead grandpa would've said...

She's a big, beautiful girl, Mike. In this day and age, a BBW commands a fair price, to be sure. And as I am sure you know...hips aren't "dangerous" to your girl. They may not be attractive to some people, but...ain't nothin' wrong with 'em. Shows she is loved and spoiled...

"round here, we call 'em "renaissance girls"... :grin01:

great looking snake! she's about the size of Sabrina the corn i just found a new home for, loverly girl : ) thanks for sharing : )

Any chance this girl came from Erin Williams? I have a multi-het 06 female from "Wrigley" x "Big Red".

I haven't been able to take a measurement yet. If I had to guess, I would say close to 4'. The tank she's in is 30" long.

No, she was acquired locally here in Florida. I just called her Big Red cause she's a BIG RED!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Roy Munson again.

She's a beautiful example of a Florida wild-type corn Mike! Don't worry about those hips. I had a hippy girl (including flowers in her hair) and she never had any trouble breeding or laying eggs.

:dancer: "I love the flower girl......" :dancer:
Thanks Susan, the guy supposedly has had her for 3 years and claims to have bought her at a local show as a breeder. She has not been bred since he got her and he told me the hips developed about 6 months ago :shrugs:

Thanks, I had a WC with hips like that about 3 years ago, he wasn't very fat but had a noticeable bulge at the vent, never seemed to bother him or develop further. Hope she does well for you.

Deffinately liking the wild look. And if the hips aren't a problem and the snake is happy than i'm happy for you. She looks like a great corn.
