Billy The Exterminator...

I think he could still be entertaining without giving out the wrong information, though. (Well maybe not him in particular but it can be done.)
I watched that show a couple of times and both times he said something like OMG we have to get this thing out of here! People could get hurt!! There's little kids here!! It didn't matter what the pest was, spiders, bees, raccoons, he reacts the same way - OMG danger danger!! Not really educating his customers just scaring them and trying to act like this big hero that comes in to save the day...

I bet thats good for busniess... "Call the exterminator!! its Dangerous!! he said so!!!"
lol...:p

I like the show. Not all his crappy info but I find him entertaining. As someone all ready said tho his mom is fake and I cant stand her!

I have no problems with the show or him. I know he is "sensational" and a bit outrageous, but how do you expect him to get a show. Watching a show where a guy just goes out, walks around a home spraying chemicals or setting a fe traps and then going back to retrieve and leave would be very boring right? Not sure that show would ever be made.

The way I see it, he did something to get a show and better his family. If I could get a reptile based show, I would and it wouldn't be monotoned and dull...

To each there on I guess

Have you ever watched Jeff Corwin or Steve Irwin? Both are fantastically entertaining, doling out all of the "duh moments", all of the excitement, and every bit of the enthusiasm...without the wrong information.

I'm sure Billy is a nice enough guy. He certainly seems to genuinely care about the animals and the people involved, and if I had the opportunity to meet him, I'm sure it would be pleasant and enjoyable.

But it is not a foregone conclusion that an entertaining show be full of wrong information. What's wrong with having a show that has all the extreme attitude of Billy coupled with accurate, helpful information? What's wrong with him telling his customers that it's just a black ratsnake and can't possibly hurt them, "but I'll go ahead and relovcate it for you, anyhow"? What's wrong with telling his customers that there is no reason to be afraid, they aren't in any danger when that is, precisely, the case at hand?

I just have a real hard time condoning bad information. Too many people accept what they see and hear on TV at face value...as "fact"...and far too often it is completely wrong. I say enough of that nonsense. Fact-check your information, or you don't get to have a show, no matter how entertaining you might be.

That goes for Billy the Exterminator, FOX news, and any other show that offers "facts" that are completely false...

I started watching the show and thought it was a sitcom :roflmao:

Love the leather pants and vest, very appropriate for the profession. :grin01:

I hate to contribute to the slightly zombified thread, but I do have some stuff to say about that show.

One thing that frustrates me is the way he uses the words poisonous and venomous interchangeably. They mean two different things, and in a life or death situation, it is VERY important to let medical professionals know if he's been poisoned or envenomated.

I know the part of the USA that he's in has many reptiles and snakes, but as a man who's profession involves dealing with them regularly, he should be able to identify them quickly and accurately. He should also be more careful, I can't tell you how many times I've seen him put his bare hands into bushes looking for snakes. Or taking his brother, who is supposedly allergic to bees, on bee exterminations.

Long story short, he can have an entertaining show that also has accurate information, he just chooses not to.

I haven't seen either in years.

And a teacher of mine actually met Jeff a good few years back, and apparently he's not very charming off camera. I can also remember thinking at a few things he's said (not many, but once or thrice) were either stupid, wrong, or totally acted out (I specifically remember him and the crew "coincidentally" coming across a gator (pretty sure gator, think he was in Florida then) nest LITERALLY minutes before hatching). Good to watch, but not the best.

All I know is that I'd like to visit La. ( as long as its in the winter! I'm allergic to extremes. ) but I wouldn't want to live there. Have you seen the cockroach infestations on the show?????!!!!! Roaches are NOT my favorite critter! Especially OUT of a tank!

Being from Louisiana, as long as you keep your food packed away and cleaned up, infestations are not really something to worry about. Usually when we had roaches in the house they were either, A) my pets, or B) It was raining, really bad outside...lol, same thing with the ants.
