Well, I'd say this little girl is growing on me but I don't see her very often, I want to keep a balance of keeping her "socialized" and stress-free. I got her about a month ago, and she hasn't eaten yet but it occurred to me just now that I've never tried feeding her in the dark. I know it really helped one of my snakes, anyway, she isn't loosing weight so I guess she's fine.

I think the sun was a little too low for these photos, I should have done the photos earlier in the day.

I was showing off some embroidery I did, it's a gryphon from a 16th century tapestry. Modified and stitched in silk on a bag, for my friend. On the stitching boards, I'm glad even the girls who are afraid of snakes will say they're pretty.

I'm still not 100% happy with the photos I have of her, the colouration keeps looking washed out. Here is a link to a photo her old owner took:

where she looks a lot more true-to-life. I have a feeling the time for taking outside photos is at an end, it's getting cold and rainy season is setting in. No more sun for a while, I'll bet.

She's absolutely beautiful. I am jealous.

Ha, she has feeding issues and is spooky as all heck, but at least she hasn't tried to bite me yet (it was said she is a biter). Chances are good she's wild caught. I'm sure I'll feel like she was worth it eventually, but man, why did buy her? lol

From the little I gathered Candoias are relatively hard to breed in captivity and many Candoias are WC

DYK welcome to the world of feeding issues with candoia. This is like no other feeding issue you may have ever experienced before. These wee blighters are outright stubborn to the core about what they do and don't want to eat and when. But once you find their preference you can rest assured they will take it almost every time offered. I have just found the preferred eating method of one of my carinata girlies after 10 months of fasting. I tried EVERYTHING (and I mean this in the literal sense. I was at one point sorting through the best looking worms at a fishing shop). She eventually took a f/t hot but dry small white mouse that was left on a leave of her plant just outside her hide. Fussy eh ;)

Don't despair though, candoia have an extremely slow metabolism, and 10 months without any source of nutrition didn't make too much of a dent on my tiny carinata lassie, so with a bigger specimen like yours it would probably be less of an impact.

Good luck, try everything, but not too often and don't give up!

She is beautiful, hope her eating issues straighten out I know how frustrating that is. So far I have not had any feeding problems with my Candoia girl, she eats like a champ *knock on wood* lol.

Well, the MBK owners can have their club. Candoia owners need a support group.

I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

I agree! There are more and more candoia owners out there now. I think we just need to collaborate in sharing what works and what doesn't. I know a few keepers that are not keen to share their experiences on successful breeding. I guess so it doesn't affect their production and sales. Sucks for other keepers who want to help this species thrive and reproduce in captivity.

Holy light-ness, BatGirl! She's beautiful!!!

One of the things I learned VERY quickly with my candoia girl is that she eats every 3-4 weeks. By her own choice. She also prefers nice big meals over smaller ones. So I don't even try to stress her out by feeding her every week. I just have to keep track of when I did feed her. Hence a nice little sticky note on her tank to help me remember. LOL

She's lovely, hope you have luck getting her to eat. I love the embroidery. I really like to knit (especially textured stitches like cabling and lace), but someday I'd like to learn to embroider as well.
