Daytona Raffle Donations

I know you have to be very careful with a 50/50 drawing and possibly even a raffle as they are considered gambling, which is illegal in Florida. Technicality, I know, but I'm sure if some Humane Society or PETA person wanted to create more trouble for the reptile trade, they could make a big enough stink that would spell trouble for USARK. That might have been part of the issue last year.
 
So when they sell tickets, chances, whatever- you get a ticket- at work for gift/prize baskets at work, to benefit Children's Miracle Network, that's not legal? I'm going to have to go look at their signage Monday and see how they have it worded.
 
I will be donating a 0.1 bloodred het pied ph hypo to the auction. Ive been looking around for door prizes too so hopefully I will find something cool!

Being against the law can sometimes be a very grey area. Technically, Bingo is illegal as well as it too is gambling, yet you don't see all those grandmothers and church groups arrested. The raffle will get over-looked as it always has, but I would be hesitant to do a 50:50 drawing. Our local SPCA had to stop doing a 50:50 because someone made a fuss.
 
As far as I know, If 100% of the proceeds are going to a non-profit org, gambling is allowed, provided the payouts are tangible prizes, not cash. Unlike the Lottery, which seems to be an example of the state breaking its own law.
 
I will be donating two infrared thermometers- this is the type I use and love. Except for the battery type, but oh well.

Yes I have. I will put a picture up of him tonight. I am hoping I'll have some nice Tangerine Amels I can send down in a week or so. I still don't know what we are doing about getting them there. Do I need to ship to Daytona or can I ship to the winner?
 
It seems to me that it would be best to ship to the winner- since they are a lot needier than snakes- I mean, with hatchling snakes, we can accept shipment, possibly get in one feed, then they have to not feed again before shipping, so that is quite a long time without feeds. i don't know if a lizard can go for so many days with only one meal in the middle of it all. Or tolerate sitting in a deli cup. I think you take excellent pictures of them and people should be able to get a great representation of what the actual animal looks like.
 
Thanks Nanci! I feed my babies daily, so more than 3 days is really rough on them. I will send some high res pictures to you of him along with a care sheet. I will put a few pics in this thread later tonight.
 
YAY American Cornsnake Registry!!!

Chuck and Connie have just donated two annual memberships to the American Cornsnake Registry, valued at $60 each. An annual membership allows you to register an unlimited number of snakes for FREE!!!!!!!!!! Let me tell you, I have had an annual membership for two years and it is a great value. I only sell ACR registered babies. You never can tell what you will find doing a little pedigree research!! I am going to put a lot of tickets in for this, for sure!! WOOO!!

I will be donating two My Weigh Triton T2 300 hatchling scales. This scale will weigh a snake up to 300g. Also great for weighing mice! It has a 30 year warranty- just don't lose the paperwork!!

ooooooo i want one of those!!!! Ok well my donations as of now are a 1.0 normal het hypo caramel/66% het amel and a temp sex female lavander leopard gecko het tremper albino. Im gonna gonna get some door prices in too!!! O wat times is the raffle gonna start this yr?
