DIY viv stack progression thread

Rapunzels Prince Charming
Well the major part of my DIY viv stack project is now fully underway. Today I got the main frame built and I just have the back left to cut and apply then I can start staining and coating the wood for use. then all I got left is the drilling for the air vents and cords and to insert the glass and tracking. Here is a photo of the current progress on the project. Hope you guys enjoy!

Got the new stack stained and the back put on it. Doing the last of the cutting today to make the holes for the wiring and air vents and coating it tomorrow with three coats of polyeurathane. If everything goes well I'll get my tracking placed this weekend and have the tiles and glass early next week and everything will be finally done.

Got all the air vent and wiring holes drilled but I've ran into a snag with the weather so I'm stuck waiting for the rain to stop before I can seal it so I'm building a side shelf to rest my thermostats on for easy access. I still hope to get the entire project triple coated in polyeurothane this weekend and to get my glass tracks laid down. My wire hole covers should be in on tuesday so I'll get them installed then and place the order for my glass panels for the front. Overall I plan to be completely done with the building of the project by next weekend. Then I just need to get about getting it filled out on the inside for everybody to move in.

Nice looking work! The real fun and appreciation comes when putting the snakes into their new home, stepping back and admiring your effort and work!
Nice job.

The rains stopped and i managed to get my side shelf attached and stained. Now I'm laid up with a useless right hand though as I got a bunch of particle board in one of my fingers and its swollen up so I can't bend the joints in that finger. Hopefully the swelling will be down tomorrow and I'll get the triple coating of polyeurothane on the stack then its just the tracking and glass left.

The air vents and triple coating of polyeurothane are now done. I've got my tracking to lay down and my glass panels will be ready to be picked up late next week. Everything's coming together quite nicely at this point and I'm pretty proud of myself since this is my first major project.

I have UTH"s attached to ceramic tiles that are raised up off the floor by 3/4" high pieces of polyeurothaned wood strips that will have the cords then running out the back to my thermostat on the adjacent shelf I built on the side.

Thanks. That was actually my first thought when I looked at your rack. I'm so NOT handy. I'm actually toying with the idea of buying a five-stack of boaphiles next year.

Nice work!

I'm better at the designing than the actual carpentry but my dad is a odd job carpenter and has a lot of experience so we worked on it together to have some quality father son time.

Got the tracking laid and everything good to go, then I picked up my glass and the overlap is to big. Now I'm stuck waiting for Monday to roll around so I can pick them back up so they can fit my locks. Oh well just means a busy night on Monday preparing for the new little one coming in on Tuesday.

We're finally finished here is Rapunzel's new viv. I'll take pictures agian tomorrow once our new one arrives and gets moved into his viv as well.

Here the tracking is all done.

Hey, the stack looks great. I was thinking about doing something similar later this year. Where did you get your vents and tracks at? Links?
