Does anyone have a Pitbull?

People get hysterical because bad people own these dogs for status symbols, then they torture them and teach them bad things, or they don't socilize or train them. This breed is known as the "nanny of the dog world" because they are so good w/ kids. A good breeder should put any dogs that aren't down.

People were like this w/ shepherds, rotts, dobie's etc....the stupid media doesn't help.

Oh my GOODNESS, she's so cute... and just as I suspected from your description, a chocolate... my absolute favorite!

Seriously, they make WONDERFUL family pets as long as you stay aware of the dog aggression tendencies (like Steph described).

And they do need exercise... :D At this point, she's too young for forced exercise (long walks, runs, etc), but (if you keep her) once she's ~18 months, I highly recommend teaching her to heel next to a bike. It's a really fun way to get in their exercise.

I think they get a bad rap. I have only seen one really bad pit a female, since I also knew her sister, raised the same by same owner... I think it was just bad whatever. She was bad as a pup though.
Where we live (a senior mobil home park) we cannot have pits, rotties, german shepards... There are many mobil parks here that won't allow a dog over 20#. We have dog parks also and above dogs can only be in park if there are no other dogs. Our neighbors have little demon ankle biters, go figure.

When I worked as a tech, I only ever needed a muzzle on one bully-type dog. (He was in the end stages of a VERY painful cancer so I don't blame him) One owner wouldn't pay for pain meds or sedation when his dog got hurt on a barbed wire fence  so we rolled him on his back and stitched up the gash in his neck while he was fully awake. He wagged his tail the whole time.

They are phenomenal pups. :)

I have 2 brothers. They are mutts (mixed breeds). They love to chew up stuffed animals. They greet us with pillows and shoes. When we come home.

The 2nd one doesn't look like a pit at all.

But his head shape doesn't look like a rottie either to small.

I am so glad to see that so many people who I know to be sane also have pits. It is also GREAT to see so many adorable pics! I could just tell my Aunt, well the snake people say its fine, but she does not approve of snakes either LOL! Her kids when they were growing up never had a single pet, and I think thats why they turned out weird.

Nanci I can't wait till I get a chance to log onto my main machine this evening, to watch your video, this one doesn't have speakers connected, but I have read some positive things about some of the Vick dogs so I look forward to watching!

I am so nervous and worried and I really hope her owners call about her soon! I called my husband to let him know that we might still have a visitior when he gets home, and he laughed at me, he said to me "Nellie you aren't worried because it is a terrier dog, you are freaked out because it is a puppy!" And you know what he is right!!!! I have never had a puppy before, all of my dogs have always been full grown adults before I got them.

I will definitely keep everyone in the loop during our hunt for her people.

When I was a tech the only dogs that ever smothered me in giant, wet kisses while I was trying to keep a thermometer up their butts were pitties.

Our 70 lb pit mix loves to chase laser pointers, so that's how we tire him out when he needs exercise and we don't want to take him for a walk. :)

Here's a thread about how nice pitties can be. Even ones who've NOT already been socialized and trained well. If you're bored with the reading, just scroll for the pictures.

I have 2 pits.. And used to foster them. I ADORE The breed.. All thought they are not for everyone..

Tyson is actually a American Staffordshire Terrier.. He is 10..and really starting to show his age. He is what started me in the whole Pit Bull Scene!

This is Jade, she is my 5yr old Blue/white pittie I got as a foster.. and decided to keep due to her health issues... Didnt want her going to a home where no one cared..and they regress. :) She is my other half my heart.. She shares that half with Tyson.. But still. She means the world to me.. and I couldn't do it without her!

The light brown and white looks like our dog, they are all cute.

Well we still have our house guest. She has been fine. No accidents, and no chewing. For a Puppy I am impressed! We have also printed up a bunch more signs to really blanket the neighborhood with. After we get them up on the power polls we are also going to bring some up to the post office which has a local community board for us folks to post stuff on.

We enjoy having her here, but I was so worried last night, because if my dog was missing I would have been wreck so I was really feeling bad last night for whoever owns her because I am sure they had to of been worried about her.

:D Pit raised.

You are lucky my kids are being raised by a Pomeranian ,and they aren't as good for leaning on because of their size. LOL

Are any of you familiar with the baby board books about the Rottie named Carl, who really does babysit? They are adorable books if any of you have toddlers or babies who like board books.

I saw those books at the house I babysit at! I was so impressed to see a Rottie portrayed so positively!

I am still jealous of your house guest. :D Although if somebody IS looking for her, I certainly hope they find her.

Cuuuute puppies!
Just be sure to socialize it a TON with other dogs and they end up being the best, in my opinion!
