Finally Sharing These Beauties

ArpeggioAngel

Around Here Somewhere....
These are my two keeper grayband hatchlings from last year. I just finally moved them into their 6qt sterlites and named them. I was so paranoid of jynxing the progress I made with them by naming them....

Anyways, these guys are thriving and growing very well now so figured it was about time I shared their first photo shoot (done today!).

For the record, these are not purebreed graybands. Their father is het albino ruthveni. This male with the same female will hopefully be bred again this year, as well as two purebred (but not locality specific) separate graybands.

Pics aren't that great as they did not want to be very cooperative and the light was fading. Hope to get some better ones soon.

That is fabulous. I am jealous. One other thing.....

Wow Katie, they are gorgeous! Like Miamis on crack! I like them better than "pure" greybands. Are you doing the same pairing this year?

Thanks Carol! I am trying the same pairing again this year. The male is all for it, but the female isn't interested yet....
I am hoping for another year or two at the least out of the male - he is I think 12 this year. Last year I only got three eggs from the pairing.

These guys are SO handsome! Very nice looking--I'm glad they are doing so well!

After the disaster that was my first year trying to breed graybands - I was majorly paranoid about making sure these guys were going to survive and thrive. But they have done excellent. I am hoping the scenting technique I used on the eggs during incubation last year will work again this year - hopefully with even more eggs to work with!

When these two grow up they will be bred back to each other to try to produce an albino grayband/ruthveni cross.
