SoCo in a hip flask . . . There's something a little "funny" about that picture. You're not on MY team, are you? :grin01: Just teasing, of course.
What's wrong with a little SoCo in a flask? It's the original "Southern Gentleman's Drink", and it makes a fantastic streamside toast when you catch a "big dog"(fishing, that is...)

And what team are you on? I don't want to make assumptions, so you tell me...

Absolutely nothing. That's why I made a Cavuto, instead of a direct question. :grin01: Given how they're less prevalent in being mentioned on this site, I simply wanted it to be a black racer.....

Black Racer, Black Racer- here is a Black Racer!!

(This snake taught me how many times a Black Racer can bite in one minute...)

And here's another!! This little guy had his Black Racer card revoked, though, because he tamed down rather quickly...(He still got in a few good bites, though- so all was not lost!)

I'm on the gay team.

There's obviously nothing wrong with SoCo in a flask. However, it is a liqueur, due to its sugar content. So, in a way it is akin to carrying around a flask of Cointreau, Drambuie, Chambord, or B&B. And that idea makes me laugh, that's all, as it reminds me of my tiny, old, college English professor who wore tweed jackets, ascots, carried a cane, and was the quintessential "fluff."

I meant liquor and I work in a school. :sidestep:

Oh I've got equipment. I've got a whole drawer full of equipment! :grin01:

And I knew you meant liquor.

Now racers....the only one I've found that wouldn't bite was a dead one.
I'm very lucky to have a black racer that (so far) not only has never bitten but also has never even offered to strike. I did find that type of substrate made a HUGE difference in his behaviour (flat is better).

Well...I like women, so I guess technically... :santa: Just teasin' ya'.

Considering that I fly fish, and it is considered a "Gentleman's Sport", I prefer a "Gentleman's Drink".

But, really...I wouldn't classify SoCo as a "liqueur" any more than I would Grande Marnier. A bit sweeter than Johnny Walker or Glennfiddich, to be sure, but not quite Drambuie, IMO.

I wasn't saying you weren't nice! I was saying it was an opportune moment to go put on PJs, pour a glass of wine, remove Mr. Toad from his feeding container, and throw a nightcrawler in front of Krusty, as I read along, without being required to participate.
I know - I was just having fun.

I forget- did you leave before or after I revealed who I would secretly want to marry? Please, after, please, after :eek1:
I think you meant that you wanted me to leave before you revealed that...but alas I was in there for that and it was quite interesting :grin01:

That's it...Now you GOTTA dish the goods. Who ya' gonna marry, Nanci?? C'mon...don't hold out on us now. Once the bag has been opened you MUST let out the cat...

Pity I don't drink any more.. 10yrs of sobriety has managed to clear my mind some what..

SoCo was an OK after dinner sip or night cap.. Didn't like the idea that it tastes like Jack and Jill Cough Syrup though ( Jack and Jill Cough Medicine was sold in Canada when I was a kid, not sure if you Mericans got it, the people at work did not seem to know what it was so... )... Ah well, nothing like Gold Jose, I didn't quit drinking because of him eithier .. *lol*

As far as me being secretly married... I think Jenn would kill me! *LOL* Needed the wife and needed the kids..

And FWIW...Southern Comfort is actually a bourbon...

I prefer a ladies' drink, myself. Vodka, which was originally only a ladies' drink because they could get away with drinking it and not smell or taste of alcohol, which is very unladylike. I also like tequila and rum, but not bourbon or any bourbon or whiskey or bourbon or whiskey-based liqueurs. Just can't stand that flavor.

However, I gotta tell ya, Grande Marnier is indisputably a liqueur. What is and isn't a liqueur is determined by the sugar content. Alcohol content can vary widely, but the sugar content is high in a liqueur.

From Wikipedia:
Southern Comfort is a fruit, spice, and whiskey flavored liqueur produced since 1874. It was founded by bartender M.W. Heron at McCauley’s tavern just off Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. He moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1889, patented his famous creation, and began selling it in sealed bottles with the slogan "None Genuine But Mine" and "Two per customer. No Gentleman would ask for more." Southern Comfort won the gold medal at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri.

Southern Comfort is available as 100 proof, 70 proof, 76 proof and 42 proof. It is often erroneously thought to be bourbon whiskey based—it is actually neutral grain spirits based [1]. Southern Comfort Reserve, however, is a blend of Southern Comfort and 6 year old Bourbon and is 40 percent alcohol.

Neutral grain spirits? Geez, well, I'm not even curious now. Currently consuming a shot of Laphroaig - single malt, aged 10 years in bourbon casks.

Blech. I wish I had the palate, but I just don't. I enjoy my tequila, mescal, rum, vodka, and I love gin. And I happily drink them all neat. But I just can't take any of the whiskeys. I wish I could. It's so refined, being a Scotch connoisseur, but I can't. I guess I'll just have to settle for being refined about gin. :( So sad.

I'm drinking a rum and coke. So pedestrian. *shakes head* But then, I'm also wearing a hooded sweatshirt sitting at my terribly cluttered desk, so I guess it's ok.

Well...I just spent the past half-hour looking all sorts of definitions and what-not up on the web, and Southern Comfort IS classified as a "bourbon liqueur".

But what makes it a "liqueur" is the fact that the flavoring is infused, NOT the sugar content. According to Wkipedia, the main difference between a "liqueur" and a "flavored liquor" is the manner in which the flavor is introduced. In the case of a liqueur, it is an infusion, which is what makes SoCo a liqueur. I guess, based on that definition, I don't know enough about Grand Marnier to know if it is an "infused" flavor or a "distilled" flavor to determine if it is a "liqueur" or "liquor".

If it was ONLY sugar content that was the deciding factor, than most cognacs, brandies, and schnapps would be liqueurs, as they have incredibly high sugar contents. The "infusion" is the main deciding factor...apparently... :shrugs:

Oh, and, FWIW...Vodka happens to be my first choice of drink. Belvedere or Grey Goose, with Kettle One or Finlandia taking a distant third and fourth.

Hmm...I guess I like "girly drinks". I like my "bourbon liqueur", and I like my vodka...But don;t let that fool you...
