If you read the warning label on a space heater, they are never supposed to be left unattended, and you are never, ever, EVER supposed to go to sleep with one running your house. Here in Florida some people don't have furnaces and they use space heaters. Every winter, in my city, there are numerous fires and deaths. Please don't risk it.
 
Em, I like to go with fruit, candy/food names or flowers so that gives lots of options for a yellow butter girl. I have Butterscotch, Popcorn (named by my boyfriend's son), Lemondrop and whenever Jessica and I figure out shipping I will have her Papaya too, who may keep her name or change to Daffodil. Others names that come to mind would be Buttercup or Meringue, for lemon meringue pie. If her attitude stays spicy she could even be Curry! :)

And Nanci, warning noted. We will figure out some other way to keep the snake room slightly warmer than the rest of the house. My boyfriend suggested I use the office on the main level but I'm going with the bedroom immediately next to ours upstairs. In case we lower the overall heat of the house at night (our first heating bill on this house may send us both into shock) the upstairs should retain more of the heat since it's entirely carpeted and hot air rises. The only room on the main level that's carpeted is the office and the rest feels quite open and airy. Not to mention, I am accustomed to having all the snake kids in my bedroom with me so pushing them out to the next room over is about as far as I'm willing to go. :)

I have several from that clutch that have been problem feeders. Two of them have recently taken extra small pinks washed in Ivory bar soap. Both have eaten those twice in a row now. Try that with pinks from a different source as I"ve been using quite a few from my own colony instead of from RodentPro (running low on extra smalls so I use what I can get).

Papaya is cute, I have a snake I've been thinking of naming that already, though. And Paula Dean... heehee.

I will try that, as he refused a pinky head again last night.

I've never used a space heater before, but that's good to know just for future reference.
 
I had a heater crap out in our last apartment, I stayed up all night staring at the space heater aimed at my son's room like it was a bomb set to blow if my eyes let off for an instant. They fixed the heater the next day. This was the time before I had snakes when life wasn't as rich and exciting.

I am so sorry for the loss of your snakes. I wish you luck with your new snakes and the survivors. I hope in the end good fortune outnumbers the bad.
 
Very cool! I know the feeling...I had to leave many sub-adults with my family when a divorce and new job prompted an 800 mile move and of course, when it was time to get my stuff I found out none of it was taken care of and lost everything!
Trying to rebuild now but times are tough!

Thanks.... and to make matter worse, I had 2.3 Abbotts Okeetees hand picked by Lee Abbott that I left with my best friend and he took a new job and GAVE them to a local petshop rather than drive an hour to drop them at my Sisters!
Trying to replace this stuff has not been easy and those will most definitely be on my list in the future! They were stunning!
 
That's why I have a strict policy, I won't move without my babies. Dogs, cat, and snakes will all go, or I'll stay. I just don't trust anyone with them for those very reasons.

I'm so sorry your friends and family let you and your animals down like that. There's just no excuse for it.
 
Yea, I agree....I had no choice though.... had to get the house sold and move. Although I had no "Expensive" morphs I had what I liked, especially my Abbotts, my Charcoals and my Miami's.....
