Hey all! My name is Matt and I'm currently living in the Seattle area.

I have 2 Bearded Dragons ( a Red Flame and a Pastel ), 2 Leopard Geckos (a Leucistic and a Carrot Tail ), and a Chinese Water Dragon... oh and a Dubia Roach colony

I have been doing tons of research (mostly from this site :D) and recently decided to pick up my first Corn.

I was told it was a he but have not positively sexed 'him' yet. I was going to go through a breeder but decided to pick this little guy up from our local PetSmart so that I could actually handle the one I decide to buy...

I know what you are thinking, but this is the best PetSmart I have ever been to. It has a suprisingly knowledgable Reptile manager and employees are required to do training before working with them. This is the only pet store around that has taken the initiative to replace sand with reptile carpet and everything is always extraordinarily clean.. I hear horror stories about PetSmart all the time but in my area PetCo is the one to stay away from. My baby Pastel Beardie had a pinched tail and I was contacted to adopt her free of charge so that she could get the attention she needed.

He was very active and healthy in the store but I wont be touching him until this weekend when I'll feed him so he can get aclimated... it's killing me! :angry01: I have yet to name him and would be glad to hear some suggestions..

nice to meet you, pretty snake.

I worked at petco at we had a good reptile department too. I think it just depends on who's running the show.

I'm thinking of naming a future snake "harry"

He's very pretty! Snakes are so easy compared to dragons! You can post pics of your dragons in General ChitChat. Lots of us have them.

I totally agree.. it all depends on management. The PetCo by me is appalling.. I wont step foot in that one after the last time I got pretty heated with one of their employees about their practices.

I think "Harry" would be a good name for one.. as long as it wasn't "Hairy", that wouldnt fit a snake too well

I'll have to start a thread with all my lizards..

Yeah I agree beardies take a lot of work but they are worth it! Plus they eat too much, thats why I had to start a Dubia colony.. to support my habit. My Red Flame boy is amazing looking so I'm sure people will get a kick out of it.

Major kudos to you for doing your research on corns before getting one!!! :)

Welcome to the site and I can't wait to see the lizard pics!!

I don't know much about roaches but the little sister of a high school friend of mine has a roach (can't remember wheat kind) and it's pretty cool to watch it!!

Thanks! I take this seriously and I treat my scaly friends better than I do most people :D

I dont have access to my lizard pics at the moment but should have a thread up tonight. I spend a lot of time setting up their environments and make my own rock sculptures and whatnot. I just picked up some foam to begin making better looking snake hides.

As for the roaches I started with 100 and have no idea how many I have now.. They are awesome for lizards as I can feed the small nymphs to my baby beardie and have a range of sizes up to the adults. The Dubias are a non-flying, poor climbing roach and there is absolutly no smell to them (quite the opposite of crickets). I seperate them by hand when I clean their tanks and they are actually pretty cool to handle lol. They are fun to listen to at night when they are most active ( running around, eating, sexin' ;) ). But most of all they save me a ton of money!

Well I live in a one bedroom apartment and when the majority require large enclosures it takes up a lot of space. My geckos are content in a 20gal long but I have 3 4'x2'x2' vivs and a Water Dragon that will need a 6'Hx4'Lx2.5'D viv in the near future so corn snakes are a lot easier to house.. I plan on breeding my two Beardies eventually but at the moment I cant afford the ammount of space needed :nope:

I am pretty addicted and would love to add some Crested Geckos and whatnot to my collection but right now I think I'm good in the lizard area :dancer:

Now that I moved my Bigger beardie out of his 40 breeder I can easily house two corns in it once I add a divider. My roaches are also getting out of control! :uzi:

haha Thanks. I have only been in Washington for a year (Sunday will be exactly a year lol). I was born and raised in Austin, TX so it has definitely taken some getting used to. All in all its a pretty cool state.. literally

Nice looking snake. I just bought a corn from Petco. The employees didnt really seem to know much, but the snake seems to be healthy anyway. Good luck.
