Hatchling's Progress

Nope, I offered 3 of them meals over night, but none took them. I've been really really busy this week with the end of school, so they will have to wait another day.

Hopefully they will be good and hungry when I offer them food again!! Either Thurs or Friday.

I'll keep you updated!

Thanks for posting the hemi pics! Now that explains why when they popped Kapatcho (now Kapachino) and said male..they saw the glands! I saw them too but I was a newbie..only my 2nd snake so I thought it was a male too! Now I know exactly what to look for when I pop my babies when they hatch!!

Well, you guys are in luck, Nectarine just shed!!

Unfortunatly many of the babies are being picky. I've offered them all meals now and only Papaya and Banana ate! :awcrap:

I don't know if I tried to feed them too soon (right after they shed), or if the prey item was intimidating. I suppose I will wait a little while and then try just heads and see how they like those.

I've hatched 46 babies now and many more to come. The 1st two clutchs = 27 babies have shed and all fed. What I do is wait until you see there 1st stool after shedding. They need to digest what the eggs gave them as there first meal then they should take. Are you feeding live or thawed pinkies? Mine are all eating frozen/thawed, sometimes a moving object like a live pinky is too much for them. IMO

I'm finally starting to see their poops! I should have waited a little longer I guess. You know, they actually look fairly healthy. I don't have a terribly accurate scale, but I swear they look bigger than they did when they first hatched out, even the ones who haven't eaten yet!

Okay, here's a picture update of everyone!

P1011490.jpg

Alright, as I get the rest of these guys to eat I'll probably hold off on pictures. I don't want to stress them out any more than they already are. At least some of them are coming around! Yay!

Hey all! Unfortunatley school has kept me from enjoying the forums on a daily basis as I love to do, but I'm still around and kicken it! The hatchlings are all doing well, and I even have a new addition!

A solitary egg from Lux's double clutch made it to duration. Actually it hatched about a week early, and I'm very glad I checked on the eggs when I did. I'd been at my parent's for the weekend, and I just happened to decide to check in on the eggs. I found this little gem already in blue!!
P1012305.jpg

It's a very interesting little Thundlefart. Its neck is striped yet it is a Motley. Pretty cool!
P1012308.jpg

Here's Passion [Fruit] after its shed. I haven't sexed it yet.
P1012428.jpg

P1012435.jpg

Here are picture updates on the rest of the brood, who have all eaten at least twice now with the exceptions of Kiwi (who has only eaten once, but to give her credit, she was in blue when I offered the other night), and Pineapple, who unfortunately has not eaten at all. Thankfully Pineapple is destined to a loving home with someone who wants to work with her.

Alright, here they are.

Papaya
The most agro of all the little ones. This gal has QUITE the tude!
P1012443.jpg

Consequently she is also the largest of the snakelets and routinely messes up her little tub. I think with a larger enclosure perhaps she'll settle down? Here's a cute tongue shot.
P1012449.jpg

Pumpkin
This dude is also quite the spitfire. I'm not quite sure why, but Papaya and Pumpkin just go crazy snapping at me every chance they get.
P1012454.jpg

Pumpkin is quite the handsome guy though, and just went home with a friend of mine yesterday. It was kind of cool because he was much calmer for his new owner. Perhaps it's Colin's experience with Milk Snakes that makes him experienced enough to take on a snappy corn baby. Maybe it's just that his very calm personality rubbed off on Pumpkin. ;) A match made in heaven.
P1012465.jpg

Apricot
Has already outgrown his kink (which I think was a result of incubation considering these guys were all early).
P1012473.jpg

I love his combination of Pin Stripes and normal Motley dots
P1012483.jpg

Banana
So far she's the only baby to have had her second shed.
P1012488.jpg

Lychee
Has very cool hurricane like markings. I really like the way she's progressing, and may decide that she's my keeper rather than Fig.
P1012504.jpg

Kiwi
Is in blue in this picture, tonight looks like she's about to shed.
P1012520.jpg

Cantaloupe
Nice male Butter Stripe destined to live in Chicago. Wish I could move with him!
P1012533.jpg

Nectarine
Our little favorite is finally starting to eat like a pro and will be available! Most likely/ preference to locals.
P1012537.jpg

I love her perfectly Mot Striped body combined with her Motley doted tail.
P1012548.jpg

Fig
Has got some color going on!
P1012553.jpg

Pear
Is maturing into a beautiful Butter Motley girl.
P1012558.jpg

This photo shows that she also has some possible hurricane esque markings, or nice boarders, however you want to look at it. I'm not sure if Pin Stripes can really be called "Hurricanes".
P1012562.jpg

Pineapple
My stubborn little non feeder who is destined for Chicago.
P1012570.jpg

Pomegranate
He was a little slow to start eating, but I think he's going to be absolutely gorgeous. I'm happy he's accepting food now.
P1012576.jpg

He reminds me the most of his daddy at his age, although he is more red than I remember Copperhead being.
P1012584.jpg

Peach
Pumpkin's "good twin"
P1012588.jpg

She is much calmer than her look alike agro brother. She has similar outlined saddles that I find quite interesting.
P1012597.jpg

Zucchini
I think she's in shed in this photo. I'm interested in seeing her post shed, although I'm not sure it will happen as she is also leaving for Chicago soon!
P1012600.jpg

I will have to rely on her new mom to take pictures of this cute little face.
P1012603.jpg

Alright, that's it for now! Hope you guys enjoyed the update. This has been a very nice experience. Although there is some heartache involved, I feel like I got lucky in that I didn't have any DIEs, and in the end almost all of my hatchlings are eating. Patience is the key!

They are such a gorgeous bunch! Passion is really cool! Now we just have to work some magic on Pineapple. And you are always welcome to come visit! :)

I can't pick one... they are alllllll beautiful and with very beautiful and very neat markings on the top of them. Thanks for the pics.

Lil :)

When I come over can I try tease feeding the non eaters?

Edit: was looking at older post, looks like they are mostly eating now, Since Pineapple ships out so soon probably best not to put a meal in him. Still looking forward to coming over and seeing them though!

Wow-the babies look awesome Jess! I don't know how you can let go of any of them! LOL

Because I don't want to become a crazy snake lady!! :crazy02:
I think keeping an entire clutch (unless it has something to do with holding a group back longer to deturmine keepers) might just qualify me as a little excessive.

Yea, they're all beautiful and special in their own ways, but the idea of 15 extra grown up mouths to feed leaves me VERY open to the idea of finding them homes.

I'm excited for tomorrow as well! I really am excited to get a confirmation on their genders. I want to see how well I learned how to pop all on my own. I feel like I've been fairly accurate, but hey.. who knows! I won't feel 100% confident until I have your expert opinion.

Also.. I can't wait for the August expo! I think it's going to be very fun, and I'm very interested in seeing if anyone wants to buy one of my babies. Honestly, just given past experiences of helping you out a little bit at the booth I'm not expecting too much from the Portland crowd, but I'm excited none the less.

I'm glad that I was able to post updates of these guys before they went out to you. I feel good about Zucchini and Cantaloupe, but Pineapple.. I just don't really know about that little one. If you weren't so in love with her I'd be hesitant to send her out, but hey, if you're willing to work with her, more power to you!
I really hope that she just turns around and does very well for you, and a few years from now you're able to prove my doubts about her wrong with a nice picture of her as a sub adult.
