:/ Poor mouse. Just as an FYI, be extra careful when feeding live as it would have been real easy for that mouse to jump up and injure, or even kill, your snake. If your snake is willing to take F/T, you really should feed it that. If not, try stunning the mouse first to help prevent injury.

Yeah, if you are the guy I think you are..no thanks!!

I really don't like people who think live feeding is some kind of a "show".....

Hey Alex, and welcome to the site. There is a new members thread for introductions, so you can post one in there too.
I'm going to have to agree with the consensus here though Alex, feeding live should really be avoided at all costs. I see that is it necessary in certain situations by professionals who understand the risks and have no other choice, but certainly not for show, and definitely not backed up with a montage.

Good luck here, and I'm sure you will learn a lot while visiting.

I don't find live-feeding videos 'cool' at all. All I see is someone getting a kick out of it. I do hope none of your snakes get injured.

Seriously, people like this guy is why I avoid Utube at all costs....
Just makes me angry and gives this hobby a bad name.

I really love corn snake's

Do you, now?

I love my corns enough to keep them safe. Dangle those f/t and they don't know from live, they have no chance of getting bit.

Snakes are not toys to show off, we can do without unnecessarily feeding live prey and glorifying it.

not everyone. snake bytes with bhb enterprises feeds f/t to all of their animals on their channel. and they teach a lot about animals and also raise awareness to the bans going on with pythons. its a great source of entertainment, knowledge, and local herp news. but i do agree. i hate the people that make youtube channels just to show that they feed their animals live and to get weirdos to watch this. its not cool, and its not funny. i feed my animals, i dont enjoy them having to kill things.

Hey Patrick,
I am sure there is alot of good on Utube, a few months back my mother in law emailed me a video of Snowball the dancing cockatoo, VERY cute.
I just don't have the patience to weed through all the crap, and I don't want a bad vid to ruin my day..so I just avoid it! I just got 2 visitor messages from this asshat. Unwanted spam imo and I did report it (with apologies to the mods).

Out of 81 snak, err, no. Out of 87 snakes (the Sinaloans hatched) , I have one male corn which will not hit any mouse which is not alive and/or behaving normally. There is an exception to every rule, but any rule should not be based upon an exception.

Erm, hello.
Kind of a warm welcome you guys... possibly a bit too warm? :devil01:

So, welcome to the site. As you can plainly see, people are are both experienced and care very deeply for their snakes.
As they have mentioned, it IS indeed considered safer to feed on f/t than live.
And as you can also see... people here are less appreciative when it comes to live feeding clips.

I can't force you to change your feeding routine, only recommend. Beyond that... if you still insist on doing so, I suggest you keep it it under low profile due to the... strong feelings people have about it.

Hope you enjoy your stay... and I hope you will take the time to listen to the advice people willingly share here. They really know their stuff, to say the least.

Exactly Dave!!!!
While I do feel bad for the mouse, live feeding out of neccessity is a totally other thing!!!
NO WAY do I consider that in the same light at all!

Alex, Bethany, all

Is it safe to assume we do not want for Alex to discover the thrill of discovering a live rodent has sunk its teeth into a snakes' head, popping an eye, or causing irreversible damage to the snake, leaving wounds in the snake open for infection or other pathogens to get into the snakes body, or otherwise risk damaging the snake, or causing damage which might lead to the snakes death?

(This might be obvious to the experienced peeps, but not to the new guy on the block)

As for the video, it's not so much that I (me, personally) find anything wrong with it. However, from another perspective, many people have a pet mouse. They might find it very upsetting. Alternately, if you saw a video of King Cobra eating a snake that looked just like yours,

please be considerate to the snake and to other peoples feelings.
