Hypo? Plasma

Jessica29

Crazy Alaskan
This girl was sold to me as a hypo lavender bloodred from underground reptile. I assumed the one pictures was the one I would be receiving but it deffinitly wasn't. This one is way darker. I fear she may not have hypo which would ruin my breeding plans for next year as I planned to breed her to my hypo lavender motley male. What do you guys think?

I just got an email back and they apologized for the confusion and that she is not the one pictured in the ad. They did say they are certain she is a hypo plasma though. I probed her and she is in fact a female. As long as she has hypo I am perfectly satisfied with her.

Honestly, she looks like my anery plasma I've got. I personally do not see hypo but then again, I've also seen some pretty dark hypos.

Just a quick question, I see ruby pupils and I'm still learning the genetics, but wouldn't that indicate some type of hypo?

She has grey eyes with a ruby pupil. I wish there was a definite way to tell if she is hypo or not. I guess only breeding trials will tell.

I think a ruby-ish eye is the norm? for lavender based morphs? I've only hatched a few....and I have a few....the all Seem to have ruby-ish eyes :shrugs:

My vote is for regular plasma, though with the disclaimer that I haven't worked with lavenders yet. She's a cutie, but I just don't trust anything Underground Reptiles says.

She does seem to be too dark for a hypo lavender, IMO. And I've seen ruby eyes on both hypo lavenders and non-hypo lavenders. She has really nice diffusion!

She's a pretty snake, but wow- I can't believe they shipped a snake that wasn't the one you bought. How lame. I mean, I _can_ believe it after reading what Doug told us about them, but still...

She is a very pretty snake, but no where near as nice as the one they had pictured. I was teally hoping for a nice peach colored snake, and she is pretty dark. This was my birthday present too :/

I don't "see" hypo either and she doesn't look like my hypo lavender either. In the book I'm reading about corn morphs there is information about telling a hypo by using a small microscope to see the dots on the scales. I bought a small microscope on Amazon cheap but haven't checked my snake yet.
The book is excellent BTW
