They are so easy to feed! I get home. Put three pinks in a bowl of hot water. Get out three feeding containers, line them up on the stove. Take out first pink, slit, put in container. Go get Lily, who is up in her vine at the same time every day. Lily grabs the pink before I can even set her in the container. Close her up, go get her water dish, wash it out, get pink #2, slit, put in Jasmine's container. Return Lily's water bowl, get Jasmine, who is out every evening at dusk. Put Jasmine in her container, close her up, bring Lily back home, get Jasmine's water bowl, wash, return. Get Jasper's pink out, cut into thirds, sprinkle with Nutribac, put in container, get Jasper, Jasper is _so_ happy to have food! Close him up, return Jasmine, wash and replace Jasper's water bowl, give Jasper a quick rinse since he's had cut up pink stuck all over him, put him back, wash his container. Less than 30 minutes!

The adults are all like, I'm not sure I want to eat that tonight, I'd rather have a smaller serving. If you don't cover me up, I'm just going to circle around. I don't feel like eating, I'd rather be looking for a girlfriend. I don't feel like eating, I'm blue. My mouse is too cold now, will you reheat it? Why do you care if it takes me an hour to decide I'm hungry? Why do you care if I have to envenomate the dead mouse for 15 minutes? Why do you care if it takes me 15 minutes to swallow it? Minimum of an hour if they all cooperate.

I'm just saying...

LOL!

I know what you mean!
One of my little ones (Taser) likes her pinky snapped in 2, and will happily eat both pieces but other than that the babies are way easier :)

I haven't got any experience with adult feeding.
But I happy to say my snakes are good eaters.
I've got them 6months (I know, it's not that long in comparison with you guys)
Sif has never refused a meal.
If she could she would snatch it right out of my fingers.
Fenrir refused once.
He went like "Oh no no no, I is blue, you see. You leefs me alone nao"

Well, with feeding Clinton it goes like this (and he's an adult):
Pull him out any time and put him in his feeding container. Thaw a mouse. Hold the mouse with forceps, open the lid, start moving the mouse toward the feeding containerWHAMMO! Pick Clinton up off the floor and stuff him back in his container with his mouse.
He's not the prettiest but I'm keeping him for that reason. :)

Lol. Well I guess he is. Beauty in my eyes is thick black borders on a normal. He has none even though he was sold as an okeetee. Still a perfectly fine snake.

I feed my little aneries one at a time, just because I enjoy feeding time with them. Takes about an hour usually. Last night, both of the girls ate in my hands (although Trixie can't hold still at all while eating. She's constantly backing up). My boys are dumb. Both of them butt-munched their pinkies because they couldn't find the head. They looked and looked but couldn't quite figure out that they were ON the pink's head. Oh, well...they're cute.

My anery is also a buttmuncher. but he tries so hard
and sometimes he finds the head. He's so cute.

During the last feeding my amel took the pinkie from my hand.

What is with the backing up? As soon as the baby gets a hold of the pink, it goes into reverse, right back over the side of the container!

You should have seen Jasper last night. He, without fail, will grab his pink third at the least streamlined angle- like he'll bite the head lengthwise from nose to back of skull. Last night, he had the middle section glued under his chin and I had to get it off him...

Oh that's beautifully observed Nanci!

For my lot, I could add:

"I've never been given a mouse that moves, but as of today I don't think I'll eat it unless you wiggle it around a bit. You won't mind spending the next six months hand-feeding me for no apparent reason, will you?"

"Grrrr! C'mere mousey! Ah'm fierce! Ah'm gonna get ya and kill ya and chew on ya and hiss at ya and squeeeeeze ya and roll you about and really make sure you're good 'n' dead and..... Oh I've lost interest."

"Ooh this nice warm furry thing makes a great chin rest. Figure I'll just lie here for half an hour and catch a few Zzzzs to work up an appetite. You don't have to be anywhere, do you?"

"Waiter! Is this a brown mouse? Did I order a brown mouse? Well did I? I think you'll find that my usual order is white. I certainly shan't be eating this wretched article. You can take it back to the kitchen and feed it to a Kingsnake; they'll swallow any old rubbish. And I shall be wanting a word with the manager of this establishment."

im not sure why you guys have to cut the pinkies.. ive never had a problem with my guys eating a whole pinky. 2 are still hatchlings and i moved my yearling up to fuzzy's a little while back.. but i have never had to cut the pinkies. could they be that much smaller than my guys?

bitsy!!! the brown mouse act! was wonderful.. i just laughed out loud in the library and every one looked at me!!!

hmm.. thanks! ive never really know that! i might have to break out my biology dissecting kit and cut them. haha

I slit the backs of all mice- even what I'm feeding adult snakes. Easier to digest plus smells yummy!

Jasper gets his cut into pieces on the advice of Kathy Love since he is recovering from a regurge. Little bits of pink are easier to digest than a whole pink. He's had eight successful feedings since the regurge.

LOL Nanci I know what you mean. Hungry babies are always reliable. In saying that, it takes me 10 mins to feed my adults. I don't have any snakes that aren't insane strike feeders, even Griet is cooperating now and she refused to eat on demand when I wanted her to for almost a year.

I agree Nanci! The babies are great.. I particularly notice the ferocity of Carol's babys, and I know you have some snakes from her too. Not that I have a problem feeder in my whole bunch, cause I don't. Every 07 I have eats every meal. Some are just a little more casual about feeding time, but the 5 I got from Carol, I gotta' have fast fingers when the scent of mouse is in the air, lol.
