I put the snakes together once a week after bringing them out of brumation in late winter. If they show no interest in 15-30 minutes, I separate them and try again a week later.
Once they begin breeding, I put them together every three days. They mate, generally as quickly as a minute or two after greeting each other to maybe 15-30 minutes later. After they are done mating, I feed the male in his own feeding container, if it is his day to be fed (about every nine days during breeding season, to coincide with his breeding schedule) and then put him back in his own viv. I let the female rest in the breeding bin (an empty bin in the rack, with no aspen or newspaper or anything) for an hour or two, then feed her in her feeding bin and return her to her own viv. I feed females about every six or nine days, depending on their weight gain goals before they become gravid.
