Hondurans have many good points..........I have never (should I say that?) had a problem with feeding issues in this species; they are well tempered with excellent muscle tone. There are some superb cultivars with stunning colouration.
The Honduran, granted, can be a little excitable when young & one must accept that the 1st year of keeping will be feeding & cleaning with minimal handling. However, after that period both snake & owner become familiar, settling to a routine that is convivial with both.
Good species, not too big, impudent & inquisitive character..... biting/musking is not their first defence, but, rather speed.
And...........the musking? Not so. This is more in keeping with the Kingsnake who is, regularly, generous with deposits from the 'other end'.
The Honduran, granted, can be a little excitable when young & one must accept that the 1st year of keeping will be feeding & cleaning with minimal handling. However, after that period both snake & owner become familiar, settling to a routine that is convivial with both.

He is quite what you have described. A snake who I do not handle very much except for feeding, cleaning, and when the tip of his tail does not shed properly. It's not that I don't want to handle him! It's just that I'm a bit scared that he's going to jerk out of my hands. The jerking just makes me nervous.
I was slowly beginning to fear that I would no doubt have a 5+ foot monster on my hands when he was full grown.

And he's really not that bad.. his musking is very minimal and he doesn't latch onto my hand too often. It's just kinda hard to feel like he's 100% safe and comfortable when in my hands.

I have a Tangerine honduran Right and I love this snake. It looks like Candy and its as sweet as Candy as well. It actually looks likes GBB's vanishing with out the Vanishing stripes. One of the things I dig about this race of snakes is that the patterns go completely all around the snake. its really cool.
I would just hold the snake more and longer. With the musk, get over it until your pet decides not to do it any more. Mine hasnt musked yet and its an 06. Very fast and flighty snakes, actually my MBKs are faster but once they are held they tend to calm down. Just have some patients and your pet will soon relax in your grip. I also here, that they are like this until the first year and then really mellow out after that first year.
