Hi,

This year I have a strange situation that i never saw. In some of my new baby snakes, they have half of belly clean and the other half is pattern.
I would like to ask if someone could explain to me what is this?

They didn´t change skin yet but i think they are morph Pastel Striped Zig-Zag (?) the first and the second I think is a Aztek Banded (???). The second one have half belly clean and half not, similar to the first one.

The parents are Crimson striped Zig-Zag (F) x Pastel Pinstriped (M) both with clean belly.

I really have no idea what is going on there. Is your male motley? He looks like it. Both those babies are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you mind if I edited your post title to see if we can get more people to look at these??

The male is motley-striped.

Yes you can edit post, :). Thank you.

gonna have to go with nanci here...i have no clue! But i do LOVE baby #2, course mom & dad and smokin' hot as well! Hope you find some anwsers....i'd be interested in hearing it. Good luck! Awesome babies!

Stunners all of them. Just a guess but maybe the grey one is het motley. so part of him expresses motley but then the other part of his belly expresses normal qualities?

I wonder if there is a relation between his white, checkerless belly (which is overlaid on top by the most extreme wide stripe-edness) and then as the wide stripe effect starts to lessen, you see belly checks start to appear, until wide stripe is gone and belly checks are present.

The first baby up there is gorgeous, I love the belly. The second's simply stunning. Sorry I can only comment, rather than help, but I'm new to the hobby and know nothing of how one gets little genetic hiccups like these - maybe the motley gene didn't take all the way? XD

All I can say is, it's a good thing I can't swim allll the way to Portugal!! You might find yourself short of a baby or 2!!
They are amazing and beautiful!!!
Please please post progression pics of these little ones!!

This corn is really strange... I´ve never saw similar to this one. And the problem is... I have more I don´t now what they are!!!

Thank You for all your amazing coments. Let´s see is you all together can resolve this "mistery".

I will post new pics and plese... HELP MEEEE.

Do you mean baby number one? Sean Niland, VMS, has worked on a gene like that. Wide stripe. Yours is an exceptional example!!

Here's a link.

Sean says:

"Wide-Stripe is an unusual pattern mutation that we've yet to fully understand. Crosses to a standard pattern Anery in 2002 resulted in 100% Widestripe of at least the consistency of the parents, most were stronger patterned! Crosses to a Candycane in 2006, resulted in normally patterned corns. This suggests the mutation may be allelic to Anery. Whatever their true genetic makeup, they are very attractive animals. Very attractive indeed."

Wonder if it might also be allelic to anery B as well? Would be interesting to see a wide-striped charcoal?

I already have seen lots os time VMS but i didn´t have seen this link.

The baby number onde I think is a Pastel Wide Striped, now, but when she change her skin I post pic´s again.

In the second one I still don´t now what she his.

(sorry but my English is not to good)

Anazing babies!!! Usually snakes with white bellies are motley, striped or diffused, but yours looks like a normal colored Aztec and a ghost motley, that is so weird. They both don't look like they are diffused so their clear bellies shoudl match up and all babies should have had white bellies....if they don't I'm pretty sure you have something odd/new going on there :)

Do you have pictures of others in the clutch?

I think is better when they change the skin. More 4/5 days an I post all of clunch.

Yes, probably it´s a Aztec Crimson Nanci. The color it´s similar to a crimson, but the belly is very different from the others i´ve see before.

The wide stripe is cool!! Selectively breed animals with that trait and make a new morph out of it because I want one! XD The second one also looks really awesome!

Sorry I can't help with IDing the first one because it looks like something totally new! Color wise I would say it is a light anery or more likely, a ghost! But that sick looking pattern is unheard of! But the second snake looks like a hypo with a really aberrant aztec pattern. Definitely need more pics when they shed!
