My eggs are pipping

carnivorouszoo

Crazy Critter Lady
Well, my eggs began pipping. Under the advice of a trusted breeder I moved the pipping clutch into a more secure tub since I have to be gone the next 3 days, so that is why you see a water dish in the pics. The 4 pipped so far are normal het snows. Unless I see a morph in the other 5 it will mean my amel is probably not het for anything and will be either kept as pet only or available to a new home, we are thinking long and hard on it before actually listing him anywhere. This also will mean that our anery girl is not het amel which saddens me. I had thought for sure she must be het amel since there were amels and snows there when we got her. She will NOT be going up for sale at any time as of right now though it may change in the future. We have no plans right this second to breed next year, but that too may change. Until September none of the hatchlings will be available either. Even then we may choose to keep the entire clutch. It is being debated. Here are the pics!

Wooo Hooo!!!! :dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer:!!!

congrats on the cute lil pippies.

Dont give up hope..there will be a morph in there..just wait and see!!!

congrats on the pippies! i have AT LEAST 3 weeks left on my first clutch and am really enjoying everyone else's pics! hoping for some morphs for your unpipped eggs.

what incubation day are they on?

I can understand Keeping the Whole clutch. I have 34 days left...waiting on Ultramel charcoals, Charcoals,Blizzards. Got 9 eggs...I may decide to hold onto all of them...Just to have some hets to play with. Both Parents were PH anery as well...So if they both prove out...I'll be completly confused. :)

Surprisingly they are on day 68! I do hope to see at least an anery. For some reason it feels sad to know a snake has no hets. The male proved not het motley or stripe last year. Now not het anery? How many snakes do you see listed as "Known NOT het XYZ" ? LOL

OMG!!! Little cuties!!! I couldn't bear to leave them- too bad you can't set up a pippy-cam!! Congratulations!!!

You know what, when my Miami clutch hatched last season the _last_ pippy was an amel- a total surprise! So the morphs may just be waiting till the end. probably while you're gone!!

Though if we do choose to breed next year we may use this male with our amel mot het caramel stripe to double check the mot and stripe and see if we see any caramels. Him being het caramel is as long of a shot as him being het for diffused wich is what our other female is.

Quite possibly lol. If I had a webcam I would gladly set it up for you all but the only one I have is attached to my laptop which is going with lol. I bet you I get a nice fat amel from the biggest egg that had the most movement :crazy02: That egg is twice as wide as the ones that have pipped already. It looks so big a friend joked it would hatch triplets :nope::crazy02::)

Added: I just noticed, the one with its head out the most has a moustache! I dub that one Groucho!

Ohhhh!!! Pippies!! How exciting! I bet it's *killing* you to be away for three whole days!
Just think, you get to come back to adorable babies! :)

Congrats!

Sometimes having no other hets can be a blessing when trying to start a 'roll-your-own' project, so don't knock him if he has no hets. :p He might be great for doing a 'roll-your-own' fire or butter or any number of things.

How exciting! Is there a nose popping out of that egg on the right, the egg that looks not a plump and thrifty?

The first has emerged! A nice little normal het snow.

We moved it into its secure (latching) bin so it is by itself and safe. We plan to pop them after they have eaten at least one meal for us so we do not get attached to non-feeders should we have any. Hoping they inherrited their parents strong feed responses.

Yes, he would be excellent for do it myself fires. As to butters the female I am thinking of testing him to technically has a stripe het butter boyfriend but hes pretty small still. Those two seem to come from a line of shorter corns. Or at least slower growing which is just fine by me. Perhaps I will dedicate Scarlet (the amel male) to the diffused female. . .I do not know yet.

If you mean the tiny one with moss on it? No and I do not expect a hatchling from that one, it has shrunk and gotten quite hard through the incubation process so we suspect it is probably a calcified slug. Then again you never know so until all the others have hatched and I can candle is easily it will stay in the box being watched.

This morning a little Anery popped out to say, "My Daddy is het Anery! Oh and Happy Birthday Granny." LOL, Granny, I'm 29 :nope: lol! Here's the photo:

Oh look!!! They are both so adorable!!! I love pippies!! Do you know that my very first pippy, Number One, was a granite, and I was expecting bloodreds, and had never seen either OOE, so I was posting him on here saying here's my new little bloodred!! But he didn't look quite right to me, and when Baby C pipped, it became quite obvious that Number One was _not_ a bloodred...Mom was surprise het anery.
