My First Non-Corn

airenlow

hope is not a strategy
This little guy must have snuck into my box of corns from Daytona! He is an '09 Florida King from Joe (CaptBogart)...definitely Lavender and possibly Albino or Hypo or T+ or something (I obviously haven't looked into king genetics, yet). I'm sure Joe will stop by shortly to correct me on the issue.

Here are a couple quick shots from his garbage disposal duty tonight...a proper photo shoot is in the works.

Pretty little guy! Is he a good garbage disposal? I am delighted with Benchley's performance in that department (albino cali king). He eats anything, but never, EVER forgets to try to eat my hand!

He has cleaned up well the past 2 feedings. Apparently, he went to town on slugs this past year for Joe. I can't wait!

Awesome! I think that he's a perfect choice for a non-corn. My brother and I have a Brooks, and he's just the best. Your little one looks amazing, too. Great colors!!!

Awe what a cute little king :D pretty colors too. We should all just start using the excuse "it snuck into my box" lol or "it must have slipped into my purse at the show" ;) love it!

He looks great! As far as genetics go, His mom is a Lavender Hypo, and unrelated father, is a Hybino. Half the clutch came out like mom, Lavender, red eyes, and spots of orange... The breeder that has the pair, now deduced that mom is probably a T+ like Jelly and Peanutbutter are, and he's actually leaning towards Jelly, as the Lavender is obvious. Or, the male just so happens to be het for Lavender and the female for the same weird Hypo/Albino as the male. Only testing will prove! But, if I was going to test him, I'd go with a White Sided... :D

Thanks for the compliments guys! And thank you Joe for clearing up the genetics. One question...was he ever handled shortly after eating? He REALLY doesn't like being taken out of his feeding bin by hand! We'll work on him...

No, DYK, none of the Kings here want to be handled after feeding, which is why they're fed in a clear spot in their vivs LOL! They usually tail rattle and strike, or they're still in feed mode and try to eat you... Good luck with that! :grin01:

I got the tail rattle and a bluff strike. So I dumped him out of his feeding bin and right into his tub. Lesson learned!

That is a hella cool snake. I so want to get into some of the crazy milk/king hybrids out there.

Really? Wow. I had a normal florida king back in the 80s. They've come a long way baby. :D

Oh yeah, there are quite a few morphs now, and with that pattern? They look killer. I don't like yellow snakes, so never really got into the Florida Kings until they started coming in colors other than yellow/brown and yellow/black, which hasn't been that long ago...
