Around Here Somewhere....
I have been scenting this years first clutch of grayband eggs for the last week hoping to avoid the same feeding issues that I had with last years clutch.

When I opened up the incubation container for last nights scenting - I found this little one already out of the egg. There was no sign of pipping the day before and they were not due to hatch until at least the end of next week!

I checked this AM and there is one other egg starting to pip! Hopefully I got enough scenting in to make a difference...I got a later start than I wanted on it due to going to Daytona last weekend. I have a 2nd clutch that isn't due for another three weeks or so and I will start scenting them probably next week.
 
What a completely awesome surprise! Greybands are too kewl! Congrats!

As for "scenting" the clutch of eggs... would you mind explaining that? I have heard of scenting a pinky with lizard (skin, innards, etc). But I've never heard of "scenting a clutch of eggs".

In any event, I hope that your preventative measures work!

I wonder what would happen if you continued scenting the lids of their deli cups...Cute baby!

It will depend on if the scenting method works and I can get them eating mice relatively quickly. My clutch from last year stayed on lizards for almost a year...if that happens again - these guys will get wholesaled off and I am going to get out of breeding graybands.
 
Well, I hope the scenting experiment works! Even I might be interested in one of these lovely greybands!

Would I be "rude" to ask about pics of the parents? I'm sure that they look awesome to have such pretty babies!

Congrats, on the beautiful surpise! Look forward to seeing the rest.
Plus, as with some others, I am really interested in hearing whether, or not, the scenting experiment turns out to be a success.
