New addition, one I've wanted for a long time!

Elemental Exotics
There was a Repticon in Utah this past weekend and we had decided to go to it on Saturday awhile ago. Incidentally, it was the worst Repticon I've been to, with only about 10 venders and if I never see another BP, crested gecko, red tail boa or leopard gecko, (listed by prevalence) I shall be very happy! (I'm being over dramatic but not by very much) It is usually a pretty decent show but about three of the usual large venders weren't there and a few of the smaller ones were missing too.

Anyway, Utah has a great online classifieds for Utah and the surrounding states but inevitably all the really interesting things are usually at least two and a half hours away from us. But I'd seen this ad for a GTP male that the owner wanted to sell because he had several and needed space for a different snake he had on the way and he was selling for a very good price. The ad was up for about a week and every few days the price would drop. Yesterday it dropped again and finally temptation won and I contacted him, especially since we already planned to be in the area the next day. So I got this neat little guy and his setup for an incredible deal! He is super tame so far. Took a few not great pictures before letting him chill out in peace.

He does have a little bit of a nose rub thing happening, any suggestions on what to do for that?

Thanks! I'm so happy with him!

Went and checked on him a bit ago and he was rubbing his nose against and pushing on the screen top of the cage, obviously something he does often and the cause of the messed up nose. So we cut a piece of cardboard and were able to cover slightly more than 3 quarters of the screen from the inside. Hopefully that will help. It will at least help with keeping the right humidity. And will hopefully help with the rubbing in the mean time while we decide what to do permanently about it.

maybe try a peace of foam or something, for a more permanent fix?

.. just an idea not sure if it would work, but I figured its better than nothing..?

I hope the little bum stops rubbing for you, so he can heal his nose.

Well, I've only seen him try to rub his nose once more, fairly soon after we blocked the screen and he quit within a few seconds. His nose is already looking better. Viv has been holding the right temp gradient and humidity well so far.

I'm not as good as my husband at taking through the glass pictures but he was positioned just right this morning, at the right angle, I was pretty sure I could get a decent picture. Took two decent ones and then played with them a bit, mostly just cropping them.
These are the cropped ones.

And these were the two originals.

The setup he came with is adequate but eventually I will most likely move him over to a large Exo I have that currently has geckos in it. Want to plan out perches really well and everything first though.

that's good to hear, I'm glad he's healing up nice for you, and I lo e the new photos I love how they just hang like a clump of pasta that's been thrown up in a tree! :p

The guy I got him from said that he'd never tried to strike or nip but would hiss sometimes when removing him from the cage. I haven't really messed with him since getting him other than misting him. But did have to remove him the day after we got him to redo something in the viv and he hissed a bit but came right onto my arms and didn't ever look like he was thinking about striking.
Going to try and feed him for the first time either tonight or tomorrow night, fingers crossed he eats!

Went by his viv about an hour ago and noticed that he had turned around facing the other way on his perch and had his head nestled in his coils in a neat way, so I couldn't resist snapping another shot of him today.

Then this one is the same shot, just cropped.

Then this one I played around with the lights and shadows a bit in my photo program.

He's very pretty. Looks a bit wrinkled though...is he dehydrated or just getting ready to shed? I don't keep my chondros in cages with screens. They generally don't hold humidity properly. Solid walls that don't make them feel like they are out in the open works well....If he's stopped rubbing his nose will heal up. A few sheds and you won't notice anything. I've never had a nose rub on any of mine but I have had a few come to me with head scales like yours has...sort of like they had some missing...

Well he just shed last night, so I grabbed a couple post shed pictures. The nose is looking much better! These first three were without flash.

Can't remember if I'd already said, we finally settled on a name. This guy is Iroh, The Dragon of the West. And if you get that reference, you are either a geek or have children of a certain age.

Iroh is a great name!

Thanks! Was kind of hoping that giving him the name of a gourmand would give him an appetite but no luck so far ...
