• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

New advertisements...

Can someone explain to me how to block the ads? I use firefox and downloaded Adblock but cant seem to be able to get rid of them still. What do I have to type into the preferences section to stop showing google ads?

It's sad to see that even the Contributing Members are getting slammed with ads. Usually when you get a subscription one of the perks is not being subjected to the ads.

Signatures all disappear if you are not logged in, as an addendum to my earlier post back when.

I'm using Adblock too, which I re-enabled when all this started coming up - the banner ads always seemed tolerable for me before. But of course this means doing it at work, on the home desktop, and on both OS's on the iBook. Well, at least it's enteratining to see folks here helping each other offset an obnoxious revenue-generation tool on the same site that is implementing that tool.

What ads? ;)

Ohhh, these?

Thank goodness for Firefox. I never even saw these offensive ads until I logged in using Opera today.

Firefox is one of those happy conveniences I actually enjoy. To be able to customize everything? Woo.

If you don't like Firefox, I feel sorry for ya. Enjoy the ads!

I've been enjoying AdBlock for quite some time, ever since that ReptileAuction's annoying flashing banner ads that gave you a seizure when you'd just be reading posts. Now I have most of the non-corn ads blocked as well. :)

Just curious as to why I have never seen them until now
I know the bar with 3 or 4 different sites used to be located at the bottom of the page. Rich 'installed' that a couple of years ago. It just recently showed up at the top . . .

Just for the record here, my programmer asked me if I would be interested in having him play with the Google ads to try to make them more effective for my sites. As far as I know, he is still fine tuning the options to try to make the ads more targeted for the keyword targets on the pages they display on.

Sorry if this offends anyone, but quite honestly if it helps to put my sites into the black and make running all this stuff financially worthwhile to me, then I am all for it. Point of the matter is that I will not be able to keep up with the physical demands that my SerpenCo business require of me (as well as my wife) so I am trying to plan ahead for the time when I have to stop doing it. All it would need is for one or the other of us to have to go into the hospital for something major, and SerpenCo would be kaput. Which would also mean that ALL of these websites would no longer have the financial backing they once had, and would be KAPUT as well when I could no longer afford to lease the servers to run everything.

So that's the cards on the table, folks. I HAVE to plan ahead....
