New Anery??

Well guys... I have had my pair of these "new anerys" for a few months now and as far as I can tell there is nothing special about them. They look just as normal as they come. I am going to take some pictures of them now and post for all to see. I think I was more interested in the possible hets they may throw in breeding, but that's a ways away.

Troy

The first picture is of the female back in June and the second one is of her now. This little stinker has been nothing short of a pain! She was a non-feeder up until last night when she FINALLY ate on her own! :dancer:

The next pictures are of the male. First one is from back in June. The other two are of him now.

Yeah, I would love to have an anery from that pairing, especially if it shares the same clean lines as the father. I almost bought a pair of normals, but decided to wait and see what happens.

Pretty babies, Troy! If they make you anery babies in a few years we'll have to talk. ;)

Those are hets. The guy who owns the anery male did not test breed him against any known anery or het anery.

I was under the impression that anery had 3 forms. Anery A, Anery B charcoal, and Anery C cinder

Someone else brought it up earlier - Anery A, Charcoal, Caramel, and Lavender as being anerythristic (no red) but Cinder as more of a hypo-like

I was interested in these guys too, since the sire in the pic is a very clean looking snake. But for the price tag, and how much hadn't been done to prove a new trait before saying anything and selling offspring made me shy away.

I'm all for ppl randomly discovering they have something new going on, but to market it w/o testing isn't all that cool for the hobby.

I also bought a pair of these babies. To me, the price is worth it even if it is the general Anery A. because of how clean and crisp the colors are. I plan on testing my male to both an Anery A. and Anery B. (Charcoal) this upcoming spring/summer.

I agree... I don't regret buying them.. They have some really nice clean patterns and if the hets don't come out, they are still great pets with nice dispositions.

Ashey is not an anery... Asheys have a bleed through on the ground colouration, very similair to what I see on Grey Rats.. I remember reading some wheres that Dr Bern Becthel seemed to think when he first seen caramels that indeed that was a true anery animal, but I really don't remember where I seen it...

If look look you can actually see the red/orange seeping through the back ground of this big ole grey rat..

Hey all, just wanted to pip in and mention I got a pair of normals het anery from that 'line'. Also for a very good price too. So when they get big enough im going to breed and see if the anerys I get are as nice and clean as that male. Possibly some future test breeding as well.

Hey Guys,

I'm the guy with the hopefully new line of Anery. Just wanted to clear a couple things up real quick, I saw there were a few folks on this thread getting a bit upset about what I've done with these.

First. I think I've been completely upfront with everyone that these are possibly a new line. I haven't told anyone that they are definitely a new line. We are hopeful that it is, but only time will tell.

Second. The reason that I've posted them up for sale, I don't need to hold back 30+ babies to prove something out. Someone noted that they didn't like my pricing, someone else made mention that if it does prove to be a new line then anybody that bought in at $100 a pair made out like a bandit. I guess its just how you want to look at it. I've spent more than $100 on the lottery in my life and still haven't won!

Third. The pictured male was bred to 3 WC NC females. Why WC? Because we wanted a good solid base to start this project, not possibilities of mixed in hets. Why wasn't he bred to Anery's right away? Same answer as above. We are pretty hopeful that he's a new line so there was more emphasis put on making hets.

There are no smoke and mirrors here folks, not trying to hide anything, confuse anyone or otherwise be a bad guy. The decisions that we made may not have been the ones that you would have made. Can't please everyone no matter how hard you try.

Thanks to the folks that picked up pairs, I hope these prove out to be a new line and that you make a ton of new combos with them!

If I remember correctly your Fauna ad simply states “New line of Anery” not possibly a new line. You have based your entire argument on locality and looks. I have produced several anerys that have been as nice as the one you had pictured but they proved out anery type “A”

I will be the first to admit the locality strikes me as odd but to base your hypnosis that this is a new gene of Anerythristic on ascetics and locality alone is irresponsible especially since you have said that you bred the male to three wild caught females instead of breeding it to anerys to prove it out. Establish your claims in truth before making them. I realize proving them out takes time but you could have knocked that out easily in one season with a male by breeding it to an anery and charcoal. It took almost a decade to nail down strawberry hypos due to all the test crosses that had to be done but the leg work was done and it is recognized now so quit skipping steps and do the science and people will take your claims more seriously.
