Obama's take on Kanye West...

He should be concerned with more important matters, not entertainment. He isn't an entertainer; he's supposed to be running the country.

Why is it not okay for Representative Wilson to publicly call President Obama a liar, but it's laudable for President Obama to pubically call someone a jackass?

Well, considering his young family, is it appropriate to call someone a jackass on public TV? When you're the president, like it or not, you are always in the public eye and your behavior should reflect that. Try to act dignified. Just my opinion.

This isn't an Obama situation, it's a Kanye situation. He has two little girls most likely Taylor Swift fans, doesn't live behind a rock so he must have heard about Kanye, made a quick off handed remark, got laughs... hahaha... end of story.
I highly doubt he's at the forefront of the Taylor Swift/Kanye West beef, and he has every human right to make a casual remark like that. Let's also remember that Barack and Kanye are Chicagoan's, so he has seen Kanye's rise and probably follows him as much as most other people who are familiar with him.

BTW: There is NO comparison to the Obama remark and the Joe Wilson remark, let's be serious here. One was a quick, offhand remark, and was thought to be off camera. The other was a blatant attempt at attacking Obama, in an obviously inappropriate place to do so. It's quite a reach to compare the two.
As for him being a representative, and having to be more careful... Okay, fine! I personally like to see how human our presidents are, and I found it in good taste, when you see the video, and see how sharp witted and funny the whole response was. But I can understand him needing to watch out a little more, and I personally was more shocked, as I thought Obama might have been a Kanye fan.

Kanye has always been egotistical, but I think that's what's gotten him noticed. He has a great gift for producing, and has overcome some hard times. He was out of line at the music awards, but in my opinion, it's such phony, prestigious garbage anyways, that I don't really feel bad for anyone. It's all about useless attention anyways, and Kanye got the most of it... Oh well.

@Zoology girl - That is an awesome TV, and old school in a good way. It reminds me of the TV I had growing up, and it brings back memories. Definitely a classic :)!

Kanye has shown this behavior on other occasions. Says or does something that he later apologizes for and expects everyone to forgive him. I agree with what the president called him and am pretty sure in the near future he'll do something or say something that once again he'll be apologizing for. He is one messed up dude and you can't use his upbringing and demographic area he grew up in as the reason he is the way he is. He IS a Jackass and will aways be a Jackass. I think the president called it right.

I am so out of the loop....I have never heard of this clown (Kanye I mean)....til the other day.
