Obama's take on Kanye West...

Please define:
"Old School"

a movie starring Will Ferrell :shrugs:

old school: "In slang, old school (or oldskool) can refer to anything that is from an earlier era and looked upon with high regard or respect, including music, clothing and language.[1]" (urban dictionary)

wikipedia:
Old school hip hop (occasionally referred to as Old Skool) describes the earliest commercially recorded hip hop music (1979–1984),[1] and by extension the music in the period preceding it (see Roots of hip hop). The image, styles and sounds of the old school were exemplified by figures like Run-D.M.C., Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, The Sugarhill Gang, The Treacherous Three, Funky Four Plus One, Fab 5 Freddy and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. This was later sent into decline with the advent of new school acts the Fat Boys and LL Cool J, with these latter acts now themselves often considered old school as we move further away in time from their initial impact.

that's the best I can do.

You mean is, or is not, I assume. Hence, you lead me to presume you, Ricky, are an authority on homosexual behavior.
No, I just don't appreciate when a negative connotation is added to the term, as though more than just sexual behavior defines gayness. Kanye's attitude reflected selfishness and a lack of self control, none of which is found in the definition of gay therefore the remark came across as inappropriate, IMO. Nothing serious, but I thought I'd put it out there anyway.

People think Imagine, some one else "just letting his ego get the best of him right now, but I think this is a good thing for him to go through". It was interesting to see someone making an attempt to cash in on their own personal unfortunate incident instead of cashing in on someone elses for a change. I would hope he does not have to succumb to more injuries to make more music like this, however.
I don't think he exploited his accident at all. He used his struggle to make a positive. To me thats brilliant!.

Yeah, That'd be fine if his ego didn't include humiliating others...not such a "good thing" for the people that have to deal with that BS. If you were a great fan of Swift, you might not be so generous with Kanye's egotistical outbursts.
I mean who's the victim here?

The real victims were Taylor, Beonce(sorry cant spell her name) and the Jackson family.

He may have told Taylor that he is sorry but thats not enough for me. The Pres. was being nice....

That night was suppose to be remembered for the Jackson tribute, but it seems the only thing it is being known for is Kanye's drunken intrusion.
Also Beonce gave up her time for Taylor(class act on Beonce's part) so there is far more than only 1 victim here

He should be concerned with more important matters, not entertainment. He isn't an entertainer; he's supposed to be running the country.

Why is it not okay for Representative Wilson to publicly call President Obama a liar, but it's laudable for President Obama to pubically call someone a jackass?

I for one never said it was inappropriate for representative Wilson to call him a liar. I appreciate they both were able to voice their opinions. Did Wilson deserve the backlash he got? I don't think so. I'm just happy to see a president who is allowed to be viewed as a civilian when he suppose to off record.

One is a formal setting and the other is not. Apples to oranges. So what you are saying is that if you were the President. You would spend 100% of you time on politics? Even if you have a young family?

Well, considering his young family, is it appropriate to call someone a jackass on public TV? When you're the president, like it or not, you are always in the public eye and your behavior should reflect that. Try to act dignified. Just my opinion.

Because he's right! I think Democrats and Republicans can all agree on this one. He was trying to unify the country with that non-partisan statement. :nyah:

Seriously if he accidentally steps on a Republicans shoe tomorrow, will all the Republicans scream physical assault?

Heather, you are a sport, and always make me smile.
Way to set an example, Mr. President...

Nanci if you read this post,

http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showpost.php?p=940126&postcount=17

it will point you toward the socio-political nuances that prohibit a white man from saying anything negative to a black man, but allows any black man to jocularly call any other black man anything.
Just like us homo's can call each other anything. But straight people are not allowed to call us any names. (I exaggerate, if you are my friend, you can pretty much call me anything, but you better be smiling.) :D

P.S. I did not need the president, nor anyone else, to tell me Kanye West is a complete and total narcissistic raving nincompoop.

I think it was one of the first times I have fully agreed with Obama. Kanye is a jackass. Sad part is he didn't learn anything from this experience. He's saying the same crap he said after South Park did the gay fish episode about him. He's a lot of talk and swagger, but not much else. And certainly not a lyrical genius lol. Just another jackass. Well done Mr. President!

well the president was dealing with the news in a way. i did not hear one radio station not talking about the kanye/swift situation. i also heard it on a few news stations on tv. if obama was just enjoying his cheerios/wheaties or whatever he eats in the morning, he probably heard about it. just like the guy caught the foul ball and his daughter threw it back. thats been all over the media too. someone asked him and he spoke his mind with no lying. im proud of that. i would not like to hear a president lying or not speaking his mind truthfully (lol at that one).
