Seen this guy in my back yard not sure what it is but very laid back.snapped some photos then he or she went on their way

I call them glass snakes due to their tendency to throw their tail at you.

Its actually a lizard, not a snake
 
Be careful when you handle them, they break easily. Isn't it weird how stiff they feel compared to a snake? Not flexible at all.
 
I'm a little jealous; I would love to see one of these guys in my yard! I'll just have to settle for admiring the ones at my local pet store. Very cool animals.
 
Cute critter! It always makes me smile to come across one.

The relative stiffness compared to snakes has to do with the way their vertebrae are arranged. It's one difference between the lizards and the snakes. Another difference you may see if you're looking closely is that lizards (including these pretty little things) have eyelids.

I was thinking when I saw the head pic that it looked rather "lizardy"..... than kept scrolling down and found the answer!! : ) VERY cool looking, I didn't know they existed either. Wish we had cooler looking animals around here, either that or I just have to look harder ; )
