Well, without getting into too many of my personal beliefs here's my issue with this new legislation as it pertains to guns. Some people who probably didn't grow up hunting and shooting as most of us do where I'm from just don't get it. It's not vicious bloodsport or just going out "shooting stuff". For my family, it's tradition, a way of life. You teach your kids how to hunt, it instills traditional values and is bonding for us men. Some of my best memories growing up are of sitting at Lake Iatt or Lake Black in our blind duck hunting. All the men in the family, telling stories, my grandfather teaching me how to call in ducks, watching our dogs work. It's something of great beauty to me. My real issue comes in when the government tries to pass laws that will restrict my ability to do this with my children, or threaten the firearms I already own. A system which I've dedicated my entire adult life to now threating my way of life. I joined the Army at 17 as a private, the bottom of the barrel. I've worked my way all the way to earning a commission and becoming an officer at age 30. I've sacrificed valuable time with my family, I've lost one marriage and been taken from one of my children, and I've deployed multiple times and fought for the very freedoms that they're now infringing on. This is where I have a problem. I'm not someone who's gonna sit on the sideline and complain and have never done anything. When will the government realize that the only people gun control legislation hurts is the responsible, law abiding owners? Crime won't stop, gangbangers will still be able to illegally traffic arms, and gun violence will continue. Sad but true. I'll end my little rant cause I could go on all day..
