It was a nice day outside so we took Rio and Eve out to get some shots
Love this one

He is so big, I can't get his whole body in the camera shot!

Eve was sold to me as an Anery Motley (from Mom and Pop pet store) but I am wondering if she is something else. Her eyes are gray and her coloring has totally changed in the last month

Great shots. Eve lookslike a particularly pretty anery to me. When you mentioned that she may have something else going on genetically my first thought was Dilute, but I'm not sure Blues develop that much yellow. I have a blue motley hatchling and besides the yellow he and your Eve have pretty similar coloration. Could be?

Rio is great! We took him out to feed him last night and since he is so huge, we don't have a feeding container big enough so we use a big sterilite lid, and he laid there so calm. After each weanling, he would just lay there and look at us, unlike Deacon, Blossom, Eve....etc..they try to attack you for the next one. He waited patiently. And when he was done, he didn't care one bit that we were picking him up to put him away. Unlike the ones mentioned above who we try to trick into picking up or we will get bit. They only act like that on feeding day too.

Rio is such a beautiful snake and OMG the size of him. I'm new to snakes so I wanted to ask if it's normal for corns to get that massive? Not that it would be a problem if mine did, just hadn't seen any as big as him.

He is just over 4.5 ft. long and weighs 878 grams. I have two females that are in the 6's and 4 ft long and two other males close to 500 grams. I have heard of some in the thousands too.

He looks a lot bigger then that. I have heard that they get between 4-6 feet with 6 being on the large end.

Nope, that is how big he is. He is a really sweet snake too. Got him from Michael Crouse..crousescorns.

Check out Susan's awesome Dilute Motley photo thread. They can have LOTS of yellow!

That said I think what you have is an Anery Motley. It looks pretty typical of one to me. There's just such a huge range of variation within the morph. If you're suspicious of Dilute though, buy a Dilute Motley to test her out with! Unless you have accurate information from a trusted breeder, that's the only way you'll be able to prove her.

I didn't know anerys could have blue/gray eyes like hers. That is what made me think maybe something else was in there. I am thinking Dilute is in there. But we will have to wait a while to prove her out, she is only a 50 or so gram '09 :(

Dilute is a fairly new gene, and it seems unlikely to me that there would be one available in a small pet store.. but I guess you never know. I'm definitely no expert on Dilute, I just think it's better to prove out an animal first rather than call it something just because you're hoping it's a nicer morph than what you have.

Who knows, maybe Susan will pipe in and say she think looks like a likely candidate. I don't necessarily see anything besides an Anery Motley though.

Yea, it really is hard to say. The pet store that we bought a couple of ours from has an owner who travels to Florida every year and hand picks his snakes, lizards, scorpions and tarantulas from breeders he knows down there. He goes for a few weeks every spring and fall. He bought from someone local one time and said that was the last time. Turns out the guy sold him non-feeders and all but one died...one that we ended up with (the owner didn't sell it to us, another employee did who doesn't usually deal with them did) Moe, who died a couple weeks later due to a previous stuck shed from the store. He ate fine for us so we didn't know it was one of them until afterwards. The owner was in FL at the time so the guy who we dealt with didn't offer a replacement. The owner would have. But we never know what we are going to get at all times I guess.
Okay now that I have kind of gone off topic....it would be nice if she turned out to be a dilute but we won't know for sure until we breed her in a couple years. She is going through that juvie stage now where she has total attitude :)
