:laugh01:LOL...you're funny.

Tell you what, Brent. Let me know when you come up with a reasonable argument. I would love to continue the debate. I won't hold my breath...:wavey:

"Retard", by definition means to slow down or be slow. It has nothing to do with intelligence. You can retard the burn rate of fabrics and wood. You can retard the activation of yeast in dough. You can retard the activation of paint and lacquer stripper. There are a lot of things that can be retarded, and many more that can cause retardation. And the majority of them have nothing to do with intelligence, or even human beings, for that matter.

If you had read what Rham "Dead Fish" Emmanuel had said, you would know that he was not talking about retarding the rate at which something happened. He called a group of people "f***ing retarded". I do not understand how you can have no issue with this. Have you ever known someone, been friends with them/their family, who was/is actually mentally retarded.

But morality should not be legislated...

I dont want to see it legislated either, I would just like a little more accountability and decency for those in public office.

Just a quick note:

Oren that picture offends. May I strip your right to use it? Would that offfend you? I am just messing with you btw:)

I am highly offended that you find this picture offensive, and furthermore offended by your assumption that you may strip me of my right to use it.
I am off-ended.

:dancer:

speaking of which, this thread should have been off-ENDED by now

Nobody is making anyone click on the thread. You dont have to read it.

Same goes for you mate, you don't have to read or reply to my posts.
I expressed my opinion because I really do know that two polars are not going to suddenly agree... waste of effort, and it has already derailed earlier and became less than civil.

As I have said from the beginning, in my opinion it is very simple...unless it is used in a manner that instigates or promotes hatred or violence towards a specific group of individuals, there is nothing wrong with it. That's not to say some people won't be offended by it. You're welcome to be offended by anything you'd like.

However, speech and words are protected by the Constitution of the US. Unless and until those words are used in a manner that instigates violence...he has every right to use it in any maner he sees fit, offensive to others or not.

That's not to say he made a smart choice in using it. It's not to say no one is justified for being offended. And it's not to say that it's a particularly polite or acceptable word. It's ONLY to say that it is a protected statement by our Constitution, and like it or not, there is nothing wrong, legally, with using it.

Morals cannot be legislated...

I dont want to see it legislated either, I would just like a little more accountability and decency for those in public office.
Decency in public office would be wonderful. In that end, we both want the same thing. I wouldn't recommend either one of us hold our breath for that to happen...

You say you don't want it legislated, yet you seem intent that everyone should be offended and everyone should be on the same "side" of the debate. The only way to do that is to start down the slippery slope of language regulation. That can't happen. And from someone that likes to throw around the "You're unAmerican" insult so much, I would expect you to understand that.

Ultimately, I don't have to like the guy or the word to defend his right to use it. I will NEVER sit still for legislation of language and morality, whether I agree with the legislation or not. It's just not something that I EVER want to see in happen in this country.

I can't understand why you can't see that...

It makes you capable of spending a vast amount of money on a piece of paper, and nothing more.

Spoken just like all the small people without the capacity to EARN on for themselves. Jealousy is an ugly look. It isn't the money that's hard to get (most people can qualify for some type of grant or loan) - it is the dedication and hard work that people lack that prevents them from EARNING higher degrees.

Of course, it doesn't stop them from WHINING when people that DO earn those degrees make more money and can keep better jobs than those that can't. I don't mean everyone. I respe4ct a LOT of people without even as much as a GED - and I've learned a lot from such people. I'm speaking about your behavior specifically. If you want to portray yourself as a borderline psychotic socialist online, don't be mad when we see you as such.

I wouldn't let him teach a goat of mine either. What's your point?

Or perhaps you're now trying to get me riled up by making obscure, veiled insults about my daughter? I sure wouldn't want you to go down that road...

LOL............ I believe he was commented that you keep referring to your child as "kid." It's a young goat. If it was an attack, it was an attack on the way YOU refer to the child from what is often perceived as being in an overly dispassionate manner by some. IF it was an attack. I just read it as a joke. Do you defend your child's ability to learn at school to the utmost of his/her personal ability nearly as much as you defend him/her against a misperceived attempt at humor? ...or is that too hard for you, so you'll stick just with typing a couple words online?

Maybe you can't, but many people are able to joke in middle of a heated discussion and even joke with people they dislike. It's called being stable and civil. Take a hint - we don't care about your disagreement NEARLY as much as you do or act like you do. Relax. Chill. My W2 showing the taxes I've paid shows that you are winning and I am losing where it really counts.

If you didn't catch what I was getting to, we are too busy working and paying taxes the democrats want to steal from us and give to others to become concerned.

KJUN has never done anything in this forum that impresses me, and neither have any of his degrees.

Hey, I have an idea. Why not link us to a post on this forum that YOU have made that even impressed yourself. I understand that I don't live up to your standards, and that's your opinion. I would like the opportunity to do better. Emulation is the best form of flattery, right? Show me what you do find impressive from YOUR OWN repertoire of posts on this forum so I know what to mimic. I want to know what quality I'm not living up to. Make yourself SHINE - show us a list of posts here that contribute to the site in an impressive manner that are on an esoteric plane that I have been unable to obtain even once..

Spoken like someone that truly has no idea what they are talking about...

Go back and re-read what I wrote. I never stated I didn't have a degree. I stated that a degree doesn't mean anything. And it doesn't. Plenty of people walking around with a bunch of degrees...dumb as a box of rocks.

Funny how you can no longer debate the topic, so you assume things, attempt to insult based on those assumptions.

More of that stellar reading comprehension you earned with your piece of paper, eh KJUN?

I have a great deal of respect for a great number of people with degrees. You aren't one of them. Your degrees have never done anything to impress me, and neither have you. So the fact that you have (presumable) multiple degrees does not in any way effect my opinion of you or your intelligence.

So tell me...how does this little tirade even remotely fit in with the topic? I mean...aside from the fact that Mike started the topic in an effort to get me riled, and your post is an obvious attempt at insult...how else are the two related?

And just for the record...a troll is a person on an internet forum that starts topics or makes replies with the sole intention of getting a specific reaction from people. Near as I can tell that makes you and Mike the only two trolls in this thread. Though I will admit that rent is running close behind.

Anyone care to get back on topic and actually debate the subject, rather than make assumptions and veiled insults?:shrugs:

..

I can agree with that.

I'd rather have us all have the right to use whatever words we choose, and hope we could control ourselves, than to have that right taken away- to have our speech legislated.

Chris, you have been making some huge generalizations about business owners being unethical and people with degrees being stupid. It really sounds like sour grapes to me. I think it is demeaning and embarrassing to you to take such a poor pitiful Polly position.

BTW I happen to be a business owner with degrees.

With all due respect, it's not your degrees that make you decent or respectable. I'm not making generalizations about people with degrees, I'm talking about KJUN's degrees. I believe I said above that I know and respect a great number of people with degrees. I also know and respect a great deal of people without degrees. In every instance, the degrees have nothing to do with whether or not I respect them or admire them.

The idea that you have to have a degree to be taken seriously is ludicrous. The idea that you have to have a degree to be intelligent is just as ludicrous. And the idea that having a degree automatically adds weight to any argument you make is even more ludicrous.

My problem isn't with degrees, businessmen and women, educated individuals, or anyone else. My problem is with the brandishing of one's degrees to lend credence to arguments that don't have any real subjective value.

How does KJUN's posession of a degree in any way connect with the subject at hand, or the validity of the statements he has made? As far as I can see, it doesn't. That's not a generalization, and I sincerely apologize if you, or any other person, with or without a degree, took it that way.
