Go Ahead, Make My Day!
It started simply as a combined effort to get all the garbage out to the curb for pick-up, but ended up being an interesting local wildlife photo session. Hubby spotted the first creature by the heat pump and you'll find pics of that one in the General Chit Chat forum. We moved that creature to the other side of the house where it would find more food (by the new compost pile that includes the old rodent bedding and droppings). On our way back in, hubby turns over a large piece of plywood that's been laying there for over a year and spots this little thing. He makes the quick grap, gets the musky works and then lets me take several photos. He's no Dean when it comes to showing off a snake at it's best while in the hand, but he at least tried. And once the little thing settled down a bit, I was able to get some better shots that showed off it's lovely yellow and red belly better. Hubby has found these little things often, thinking them just about adults. However, when I looked it up, to make exactly sure what the species was called, I read that these actually can grow to 30 inches in length. Maybe one day I'll find one that size.
