the saga continues........

I've been following for a while, but had missed this picture. The "foster" looks just great! I sincerely hope that she (he?) decides to eat on his own.

(I know you know this as a nurse, but the lack of muscle tone in a starved animal can set up all sorts of problems. As they get more "groceries" in their system, the build up of muscle just makes them so much healthier!)

And (eyes closed, hand to my forehead) I do see in your future a number of weakened snakes showing up at your door. :)

Nooooooooooooooooo! Actually, this fostering arose as a special case. I was totally confident that the owner had tried everything usually recommended for getting non-feeders started. I gave him a couple of live pinks but that didn't work either. I explained how I'd fed Lil but he wasn't confident enough to try it himself. He's a nice guy, we've got on well through phonecalls and pms, so I wouldn't do this for just anyone. The last thing I'd want to risk would be a snake with crypto or mites in my house, or to try to help someone I didn't like or trust.

hey all Im back. its been total chaos around here recently.
MY GOD, 7 grams, shes going to turn into an eating machine :)
Im under no illusions that she is still underweight and may yet die, I suppsoe that sjust how snakes are, But im glad to see Skooge motoring on like a lil trooper. I knew she would
As Janine said in previous posts and topics on the board I tried pretty much everything I could and she just would not eat, or even attempt to. Luckily Janine took pity on skooge and has got her on the "mousse" :p
7 grams is probaly the heaviset shes ever been, she looks like a positive bloater to how Ive ever seen her.
Your Lil looks awesome btw, first time ive seen pics of her!
I shall have to get you more choc's :wavey:

No need for chocs! Am going to weigh her weekly now, as she certainly seems to be doing ok. Here she is

Yep, I don't know if the check in growth means Lil will be a short, fat snake for ever, but to me she's perfect!

She is perfect :) And Panther is winking at her

BTW great idea with the antlers... I was thinking of getting some off Jerry Cole for Sweetpea and other arboreal stuff. I know he used them for all his chondros and atb's.

Well.............My friend with the ponies works for the council in waste management. This means she has to visit tips, breakers' yards etc. When she spotted the antlers she thought of me. They're too big to go in a viv, so grace my dressing table. Maybe I'll polish the mirror before the next photo session!

Wow, the antlers are cool! I have a big horse skull outside that would make a good photo prop- never thought of that before!

just read this WHOLE thread
you did an amazing thing saving that snake
it looks fantastic
i commend you for your perseverance through the whole thing
most would have given up

good luck with this new one
i'll be looking forward to updates

Afternoon all :)
Any updates this weekend Janine? she's probably a bloater now :puke01:

Just wanted to say thanks to everyoen elses kind words about my Skooge too. She is a lil beauty

Had to feed the other little'uns tonight, so I thawed out some puree for Skooge and fed her too.
Didn't take any pictures tonight though, camera batteries all need charging thanks to holiday pics.
Ok, good news, she's pooped, seems a bit stronger (she was determined to escape tonight).
Now the bad news. I'm still not sure about her bodyshape, when she moves forwards there are at least 2 areas that don't quite look right. She still doesn't flow forwards in regular 's' fashion.
I'm still not sure if this is due to her needing more muscles or if there are kinks.
PM on it's way, Trimmer.

I wouldn't normally have checked Skooge today, but could see her tub was trashed. Why? Because she's shed her skin! Got some pics for you Trimmer, then she had a bit of a pose on the tub rim.

She is gorgeous! On the tub rim she looks like a miami phase!

oof topic; Nanci, is the king in your avatar purplish? I'm supposed to have a brown and yellow king that would turn purple but she doesn't.... never saw any picture of a dark purplish king too.

She does look pretty with her new coat! She's lightish, but I'd say too much background colour already to be a miami.

:) :) :) :) that is fantastic!! look at her go!
I love shed's. it always makes them look extra vibrant. I cant thank you enough for the work you've put in for her. It really is very good of you.
How was the holiday btw? all burnt now? :p
