When I got Hotei, he just came out from being sick and was looking triangular rather than rounded. I was not the one nursing him as it was Barbara (Blutengel) that did it as she was the previous owner. If it wasn't for her efforts, perseveration and dedication, I would not have one of the most lovely and mellow snake.

For anybody out there that has a "problem" snake, hang in there, they are so worth it!

I know, but they grow really without you noticing it and one day you look at them and think "hang on a minute, you are bigger than my little finger now".
I compared Freya's first shed at home and with the one she just did 2 days ago and it is a huge difference, almost like the one between a toothpick and a tree trunk :grin01:
 
My first corn, Fanta, seemed to just have growth spurts. Id suddenly notice that she was no longer pencil shapped and more like a two foot behemoth :D

:cheers: Great result, Jaxom. Lil is on a feeding strike for no apparent reason, 2 weeks so far. She really is quite porky, short and fat in shape so I'm not worried about her. There's a litter of mice growing on and another 3 due in the next week or 2 so I'll try f/k if I have to kick-start her again.
The downer this week has been the fostersnake not eating after she got home, but am hoping for better news from Trimmer soon.

Freya had the same about a month ago when she didn't want to eat and that was for 5 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much.
Regarding Skooge, maybe it is the stress of being moved so should see.
 
I totally agree Vanina, I'm far from worrying about Lil these days! I do hope it's just stress for little Skooge, but it's great that her owner will update me on how she's doing

She might go back down from "jumbo sausage" to a "finger sausage" :grin01:
 
So I gave in tonight. After an hour of Lil sniffing then ignoring her thawed mouse, I gave her a live peach fuzzy, with predictable results.

Yep, that's why I've still got to keep the back-up breeding groups going. I nearly killed off the last litter, but kept back 1.3 pretty cow-mice and let one of the old females live to produce her last litter instead of feeding her off, luckily. Otherwise I'd be starting to worry by now.
 
Hey Trimmer, any luck yet? If she starts losing weight again I can foster her again for a while, and hold back some breeder mice for you to try live again?

Sorry to hear Skooge has gone of her food again. Hopefully it's just the stress from moving. How long has it been that she hasn't eaten? Hope to hear some good news about Skooge soon.

And please keep us posted on how Lil is doing!
 
Skooge went home on the 14th, and as I know she hasn't eaten yet. I'm sure her owner will update how she's doing.
Lil is due a tub-clean so I can weigh her tomorrow. Mouse production in full swing (new 1.3 have 1 large litter of pinks and 2 more due any day, last of the old 1.3 is raising her last litter of 1.2 before, ahem, 'retirement'), so Lil will have supply of home-bred food if she doesn't like the frozen stuff.
 
I gave him the feeding tub that she was used to, explained about getting the pinks nice and hot. He's got the bad-taste flowers too. Any other comments about the set-up I'll leave to him, as I've never seen it :shrugs:
