Uromastyx Ares: Outside

Nanci

Alien Lover
I took Ares out for a photoshoot. He was horrified. He is a wild animal, not a pet!! I only tried a couple pics where I set him down, because he attempts to flee.

He's gorgeous! He looks good with Mystery.
That Godzilla shot is good too, needs some LOL words.

Very nice photos, he is gorgeous. I have a male Saharan Uromastyx as well, though he only gets that bright during mating season. How big is he? The one I have is aptly named "monster", I got him from my veterinarian who previously owned and named him.

He was 245 when I got him a few months ago. I should weigh him again and see if he's grown on my gourmet cooking! He's pretty bright all the time. I suspect he was originally WC, imported, then he escaped from whoever, and was found on a beach and recaptured.

He's looking great Nanci!! Yea...I don't think I could bring Cyrax outside..I know he would probably try to flee as well..I love yours. He is so bright :0)

What foods are you feeding yours?

I feed him equal portions of escarole, arugula, and Dole Spring Mix. Sometimes I buy a pack of watercress. Sticky Tongue Farms vitamins every day. Ground up Mazuri tort pellets Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Repashy Uro dust on Saturday. He has a plate of whole bean soup mix, and a small saucer of ground up bean soup mix, and his substrate is white millet.

He's beautiful! Great color on him.
Very nice photos too.
I see, in the first photo, that he has captured himself an iron fortified meal.;)

Great pics Nanci!! You are braver than me, I don't think I could chance taking ours outside for a photo shoot, Beau (the male) especially is still way too scatty...lol :)

Does Ares come out and let you watch him in his viv now, or is he still quite shy?

Holy Crap Nanci!.....

Outstanding looking lizard. Thanks for some more screensaver pics:bowdown:.

He lets me see him now, but he's always got one foot "out the door," ready to run if it looks like I might be showing any interest in him.

Nanci,
I have had mine for awhile now and that is about par. These guys are very shy and elusive as lizards go.

Yep sounds about the same as Beau then....lol....he looks like a tortoise with a tile for a shell quite often, ready to pull his head back in at any moment :grin01: Millie is more sociable now though, she allows us to watch her explore the viv and she doesn't wait for the salad bowl to hit the ground before she's in it :)
