Vietnamese (Rhino) Rat-Progression Thread

Ooooohhhhh! Nice one, Danny!! I really love the look of these guys. Congrats on having such a beauty!

Any notes on temperment, special needs, etc.?

It sure is a lovely snake!

Awesome looking snake! I love the different vine snakes and other colubrids that have interesting "facial features". Cool snake :devil01:

Thanx for the comments everyone!

His needs are very similar to caring for corns. Right now he's in quarantene, then I think I'll set him up an arboreal viv in a 20 long. The guy I got him from says his spend alot of time in the branches. And yes, his nose does go boing! It's funny to see him up against the glass with his horn going every which way. lol

Anyone care to take a shot at his name?

Dang nice snake! Did you buy him from the guy that has them at the Cleveland Reptile show? I always look at them. I think it's so cool how they are gray when hatchlings and grow up to a brilliant greenish blue.

I remember one thing the guy telling me about them that was a little different. They dont seem to be able to go as long without water. I handled a couple of them up there and your right they are a lot quicker than a hatchling corn though. Glad he settled down for a little bit to take pictures. Lol.

Yup, that's who I got him from, Bill Whitlock, real nice guy. Invited me over his house to pick up the snake and couldn't help but show me his entire snake room.

It's hard to tell from the pic but he's starting to develop a nice grey-blue along the dorsal. I'm looking for a female so I can breed them too.

Yea.. He always talked to me and my friend. My friend really wants one. Except being in college means we typically have no money to spend. Lol. They seem pretty rare. He's the only guy I've seen/heard of that breeds them successfully. Good luck!
