Wall Of Snakes Progression Thread

I started with one rack- the Animal Plastics Economy Plastic Rack, with 66 quart bins. It was a tough decision to get a rack; I'd always kept snakes in glass vivs, 10 and 20L, and somehow thought racks would be like dismal prisons. I was determined that mine would be as nice as my glass vivs.

Here's rack number one! It looks so lonely. My house looks so empty. I'd just bought Cherry, Jasper, Jasmine and Lily, and thought I was going to put babies in the new rack. Except there was too much of a gap, so I had to rearrange _everyone_!! It doesn't work so well with the lids on.

I bought another rack. I'd recently bought Pepper, Ruby and Calli, and gotten Lila, the lavender, for an Easter snake, and was going to get Mike's two kings, Janine and Jewel. Babies were growing up and needing room.

I still have barely any feeding bins to store!

A year later, I needed another rack! I think this was the point where I moved the china cabinet to the guest bedroom and threw out the kitchen table and got a nice little one.

Although I'd been trying not to buy any more snakes, EVER, 2009 was a very good year. I added Mingo and Zora, Razzle and Orchidee, The Dingo and Draco, and Adlai and Azaria.

Stephanie's two kids had gone home, and I'd sent off Inez on a permanent breeding loan and sent Janie to live with Robbie, but I was still running out of room, especially since I planned to breed one pair in 2010!

Here are racks four and five, thank you tax refund!! Now where am I going to put two hatchling racks??? I did NOT have room for these. The only wall space was a south-facing window. So I insulated the window with styrofoam, two layers, and fiberglass, two layers, and shut the storm window. There's a sun shade on the outside, and blinds on the inside. Good news, the temp on the window is no warmer than any other wall!

That's it, for now...

I love how they are right in my living room! You can see Isabel in the last picture, outside of her viv, sitting on the lights supervising.

The table with the ten gallon on it, in the pic with three racks, has moved over next to the TV, and now has three ten gallons! (Four won't fit). The little stand with two ten gallons moved over to the snake wall to make room for the portable AC last year. Isabel and Ares take up a lot of room! Ares is in a 48" viv.

I'm a fan! I LOVE that you decorate your tubs. When I have enough snakes to have my rack back in action, I think I'm going to go all out.

So, those larger bin AP racks.. are those good for an adult corn then? I don't like the rack I have for adults. I think it's the 16 quart long bottom one, and I feel terrible keeping anything past a yearling in those little bins.

It kind of reminds me of a Hard Rock Cafe. (With the walls full of memorabilia.) Except it would be Corn Snake Cafe.

I love the progression pictures. It's always amazing to me how we start off with things a certain way and then a few years later, it's completely different. Your setup looks very organized and neat. :)

It sure has changed since the last time I was there... more racks! That is a great progression thread, there is nothing like furniture/rack tetris LOL

Really, all I had to do was insulate the window and move my giant bike stuff bag that used to live in my truck till I got Bella...
